I'm getting a bit lost with this. The first question is hugely subjective and clearly more favourable than finishing one place lower down. You're well aware that progress relies on many, many factors - not just one. So no matter how you dress up your question, you will never get a quantifiable, objective answer - because it's just not possible, as you well know. You've rightly said that previous manager have been responsible for a number of signings, some of them expensive. No argument there. The problem I have is that you appear to be comparing the present manager to the 3 previously sacked managers - even though he hasn't bought a single player yet! Laughable.
Simple facts are as I suggested before the game, the difference between the wendies as us is investment in strikers. Hopper and Forestiere are different class and so it proved. Watching toothless Norwich on MOD demonstrated why they will go down unless the bring Hooper back and if Lafferty is so good play him. If he cant get into a toothless Norwich we dont want him
Spot on Doc. the simple fact is we wont get a loan of a top class striker now or in the summer. The going rate for top Championship strikers is 8 to 11m, Rhodes, McCormack and Afobe sold by Wolves. We may never be in a financial position to pay those transfer fees let alone the 25k a week salaries that accompanies them.We might strike it lucky and find a gem in the lower leagues for a pittance but many more clubs with better scouts than ours, will also be trying to find the same hidden gems. Ive said all along Lafferty is no solution but likely the only calibre of striker we can afford
Sheff Weds spent £1M on Forriestieri and got Hooper on loan. Leeds spent £3M on Chris Wood and £1.5M on Dallas so citing lack of investment on strikers as the difference between you and Sheff Weds is way off the mark
I was comparing his tactics - or lack of them. Yesterday you were playing with no obvious tactics and no cohesive plan when you went 1-0 down - whose fault was that?
TC, Doc is right when he said the difference is investment, Wednesday have invested in a few good players, and resigned other good players. We invested 1.5mill in Dallas, good investment so far but Wood, that was theft imo.......
Dont agree on Wood. We paid 3m and thats what he is, a 3m striker. Lafferty will be similar and there are dozens out there, Sharpes and Morissons. All good enough for a mid table championship team and would be great league 1 strikers but worthless if thinking of competing for promotion to the PL. If you want a 10m quality one, you pay 10m
But you agreed with Doc when he said the difference between you and the wendies were investment is strikers. Leeds have invested considerably more than them in that area therefore that can't be the reason for the difference
Agus the same to you Glory. Trust your daughters gig went well yesterday? Anyone checked the lost and found for Shaks
Gig was very good. Knew she was good at what she does, but to hear experts in the museum and military history fields say it was a bit lip quivering..... Feck knows where she gets her intelligence and self confidence from. Wonder if jock was shagging my Mrs in 1992? Not found any reports of arrests at Sheffield, but if he got nicked at Dublin airport on the way out it wouldn't be listed...
I dont know the figures TC, Ill leave that to you. Incidentally, watched some of your debacle in the JPT and boys Morrisson sure is rubbish. Clueless even at what is genuinely pub league
Got to the airport no problems, then had to sit for 4 hours on the plane because of snow. Flight due to leave at 7.25, got to Dub at 23'50, got home just before 2am. Other than that a really bad day.
Nope..I had one pint in the airport and one can when the flight eventually took off. They were charging £3 for people to buy bottles of water. I could tell you how many pints I had all day 7..and some Lucozade and rum..
The funniest thing was the stewards smelling the bottles of lucozade and not getting the scent of rum..
