I think that is spin from us and QPR. The Caulker bit will be where the 'softener' for this deal will be hidden. It won't be like has been stated that QPR had to pay us to cut the loan short.
£4M. Astounding. I like him, I'm more than happy to have him (he'll pounce on the ones we've been wasting) but I never thought I'd see him come though our door. I assumed someone else would snap him up. Marvellous work by Les and the team. Vin
Yep, happy with this, looks like he could score different types of goals from pelle and long, so really mix it up now...
Agree with this, you want a right old bastard up front, along with two terriers that won't let the defence rest and an Duracell bunny of a midfielder who never stops working, so that's a front 4 of Austin mane long and Davis... Opposition defences will be bullied and knackered both at the same time....
Very impressive interview. When trying to look beyond the clubs usual "please praise the club questions" I saw a very steely and determined young man. Ruthless and ambitious with great confidence in himself. If he can stay healthy, I see no reason why he can't be a success here
Transfer fees are meaningless now, whether we are buying him for £4m or £40m, its the actual persuading the player that is key.
For those (like me) who think of injuries when they think of CA, here are his appearances over the past four years: 2011/12 41 2012/13 37 2013/14 31 2014/15 35 2015/16 16 Not too shabby, IMO. Also, I have a great deal of faith in the quality of our medical team. Vin PS, sorry for the stats but I'm trying to release my inner Tintin.
What I like is how many of his goals are little pokes, stabs etc from close in. The type where a ball pops up next to him and his reactions are so quick he will always beat the defender to the touch. How many times when we get that type of opportunity do we one of our players see the ball but are that flash just too late? Those Go on..........awww moments might turn into Go on----------Yes whoop whoop moments.
Yes, spot on. Brett Ormerod and James Beattie were good at those. Proper strikers' goals (think Greaves and Lineker). Having said that. When he scored that goal against us I confess to applauding. Not the safest thing to do on the Northam.
I loved the fact that, in the interview yesterday, when he mentioned that goal he then said "of course, Graziano immediately scored one as good if not better." He'll fit in just fine...
What I do like about him and it shows in this photo, is that he looks like a kid who has just been told he can play football for a living and has his ball under his arm ready. I'm sure his hunger comes from having come out of non-league.
http://www.london24.com/sport/footb...wage_bargain_after_southampton_move_1_4382457 Sullivan insinuating that Austin is not such a bargain when you consider his wages. It's true that you have to consider the whole package, but I don't remember Southampton ever commenting on other team's players or business.
Sullivan is having to play down the fans vitriol because West Ham are at the limit on FFP wages and pinning their hopes on filling the Olympic stadium week in week out next season. Of course it probably will be now but only because they are having to give the tickets away cheaply which they spin off as 'doing a good thing for fans'. West Ham have to offload players before buying anyone because as usual Allardyce has filled a squad out with crap overplayed players that are hard to move on.
