We have had a very bad injury record for quite a few years and the table below shows we are still on the swings and haven't a clue where the roundabout is.

Not sure of the reason why but for quite a few years we have been top (or bottom) of the injury list league. Remember Souness blaming the training ground pitches at one time and changing them but we still manage to surpass all others when it comes to injured players.

Over the years I have heard how one unfavourable decision is counter balanced in time by a favourable decision and so on. I never believed it. When we were relegated last time we were subject to quite a few horrendous decisions during the course of that season which I am still waiting to be counter balanced. If the theory has any truth in it we will have a complete injury free season soon. As CC says you heard it here first.

Linked to the running of the club. They buy risky players who are likely to get injured, they keep on the books cheap alternatives thinking it makes economic sense when in reality it's a false economy. There are such things as injury-prone players, they come at rock bottom prices, so we take 'em. No more, however. Shelvey's made of granite. Mbemba, Mitrovic, Perez, Wijnaldum, Sissoko, Colback - professionals who are made of stronger stuff. The injury table reflects recruitment policy as much as anything else - we have now decided to let the manager have a say in the squad; the likes of Saylor won't be kept on without a really good reason for doing so.

Maybe we just don't have the correct strength and conditioning. Keep buying players on the cheap due to dodgy injury records hasn't helped of course...

You just have to admire Fat Sam's commitment to progressive scientific medical care.

Steven Taylor must account for a large chunk of that injury record. I can't remember the last time he played.....2008? :emoticon-0112-wonde
