No delusion.. no false hope.. newcastle will batter some team one day. Some said we didn't stand a chance against the hammers.. For 20 mins we destroyed them.yes we need improving, yes we need better players in some positions, yes we have been poor for most of the season.. but let's give the lads some credit when they deserve it.. A half empty cup is still a half full cup !

Lets not get carried away by one win. West Ham weren't great, but I just listened to what Bilic had to say, he said he thinks our team is underperforming.

Last 7 games or so, I've changed my mind about McClaren, I was very sceptical when he came in, but I think we should give him time now, yes, even if we go down. Let him build his team. And hopefully the club doesn't sell his best players like they did with Pardew. McClaren can get us playing attacking attractive football and that's what I want to see above all else. I really don't care if we come 11th or 14th rather than 7th if it means being entertained as opposed to being bored and just making a half arsed effort at playing in the europa league. Lets face it, we're so far away from championsleague, we're closer to league 1 football. McClaren did learn under SAF and how we've been playing recently reminded me of manU of last decade. Yes, we don't nowhere near the quality all over the pitch but the ethos seemed similar.

I'm not gonna slag of Pardew too much because his very first team with Demba Ba and Cabaye was fun to watch but ever after the last few years the philosophy of the team was just gruesome to watch. How many games did we watch where we seemed to just looked utterly clueless and disinterested, even if we were getting results.

Apart from the West Brom game, we've played exciting stuff all round. You can't change the style of a team in a few games, it takes a whole season at least. Look at Everton. They play completely different now than they did under Moyes, and then did struggle quite a bit last season, kept drawing 2-2 and losing games as well, but they're a well oiled machine now that teams are having real trouble beating, and they're 11th, they ought to be higher up too the way they've been playing.

Anyway, I've seen enough lately to feel relatively positive about next season, I think we'll do better. I also don't think and hope that's the last time we'll be in the bottom three...but you never know.

One win doesn't make a season like one day of sunshine doesn't make a summer.. but dare u say it we are improving. Most on here are too doom and gloom, get behind the lads and give them all the support we have and maybe they will do the same

I wonder.....I think we can get carried away. We have seen steady progress and the belief we witnessed at Man U was carried into today. If we'd been 4 or 5 to the good at HALF TIME nobody would have complained! We were that good, and this West Ham were 5th.

There is a sea-change at NUFC; McClaren said "I need a Cabaye in here, get me Shelvey." He got him. He played him. It worked. We are getting the balance right on recruitment - the lad Saivet looked better in half an hour than Gouffran has in 3 years. Let's let Thauvin be the final mistake. I wonder.....was it me, or did Jack Colback look like the best left back we've had since Enrique?? Solid, came forward, had a shot, gets stuck in, reads the game.

Jack the lad was canny today. As most days, he'll never set the world alight but a good solid steady player, jonjo showed some quality passing (especially in the first 20 mins). Maybe a sign of better things to come from nufc. I for one wont write my team off before they dererve it

If already happened against Norwich, however we're still not quite right.

As I indicated preseason we needed a ball player in cm or we'd be in serious trouble, we've got one and low and behold we looked much better.

We still need a fast striker that can finish and a left back

We're still strong relegation candidates if we don't get them.

I'm more positive about our hopes this season. I'm seeing progress week on week.
That's all I can ask for.
