it was a foul tony yes, not a peno it was outside the box, who is that interviewer agreeing with him that it was a penalty. Tell your player not to do a Chris Ashton swallow dive and they might not look like divers.

That penalty save attempt really was bloody awful.

As was the attempt to save the free kick. The only bad thing about JWP banging that in is that he'll never face such a complacent keeper as Myhill again.

So pleased for James....Koeman has faith in him. Told him keep practising and a goal will come. He is also our penalty taker...unless Tadic is on the pitch....according to Ronald. Deserves a goal (or two :)).

Think you're being a bit harsh on him, it did look like the team was about to do a set piece. And it was a good free kick.

It was a brilliant free kick, and would have been hard to get to wherever Myhill was. What I meant was that James will now be flagged up as someone who can score from that sort of position, so keepers will be more aware of him.

Ah I see, yes. But then Lambert was a known danger man and he still stuck a few away when a free kick landed in 'lambert territory'.

Lamberts free kicks were uber accurate. they would hit the woodwork every time whether inside or out. so they were always near misses or impossible to save. Every single one (wide or in) had the keeper beat.

James' was the same today. Myhill should have been closer to it but wasn't going to save it. way too accurate.

I laughed out loud as JWP adjusted his penalty kick to allow for the already left lurching GK.

The free kick may have gone in anyway but we made sure by fooling the entire WBA defense it was going to plop on Fonte's head.

Amused by commentator's inability to tell the diff' between JWP and Davis, after all they look the same and 2x8=16.

On the subject of whom ...

I wondered two things on my journey home. What would Rickie be doing if he'd stayed at Saints? Would he have had as little game time as he has had collectively at Liverpool and WBA? Clearly he would have been usurped, but surely he would have had odd cameos. And not just when we desperately needed a goal. Rickie's footballing brain should see him come on at 1-0 up when you need to hold on. His ability to hold on to the ball and amble into the channels forcing defenders backwards was one of the skills I admired almost as much as his great passing and, of course, his goal scoring.

The other thing, being a sentimental old fool, I did wonder what he makes of it all. Did he enjoy seeing JWP's Lambertesque free kick? He said he was a fan when he left us. If that were true, did he enjoy the play? I thought we were looking as good as ever yesterday. He is the only departed player I wanted to succeed, and he has been the greatest flop. For me Rickie is added to a short list of those that should never have left Southampton - Lawrie Mac and The Titanic being the others!

EDIT: And I'll add that I've never liked Pulis, but he sank even lower in my estimation by not putting Rickie on yesterday. If you aren't going to play a proven goalscorer when you desperately need a goal, when would you? But really, of course, I just wanted to see SMS erupt!

I agree. Rickie should have come on for five minutes at the end when they had no hope of recovering the game sadly they had used all of their subs by that time.

I think Pulis didn't put him on because we were singing about him.

The three shots they had that that either went well wide or ballooned over the bar, were followed with, "You're just a **** Rickie Lambert"

    Love it :)

    Love Rickie :)

Maybe TinTin is a "Jekyll & Hyde" character - He has two aliases, TinTin for being overly pessimistic, and another one for when waves of optimism wash over the entire forum. TinTin's alter ego is unduly hopeful, and expects us to win everything, challenging for Champions' League status. Now all we have to do is work out who this alternative poster is, or get them to 'out' themselves. a few more victories should do it.:emoticon-0105-wink:

Funnily enough at the game I almost missed the goal, as I was looking across the area expecting the cross too!

It may be seen as suspicious that I've been absent through most of the depression and now, a few days after Tintin's left, I'm back...
