an interesting stat I found showing how much he grafted today.
He just really needs to sort himself out in front of goal.
Gotta just be a confidence thing surely?

I saw that on the BBC earlier, it says alot about him. Currently he is the anti-Cisse and there's arguments for either but I'm behind Mitro all the way. Wednesday he knocked down for the first and then got and converted the penalty. Today he put himself about and when you only have one up front they need good hold up play (he varies, sometimes he looks good and other times it just doesn't stick), you need to impose yourself on the game to distract defenders and create space (he does that much better than Cisse in my opinion and I suspect if Wij was free to say who he wanted up front he'd pick Mitro) and you need to put yourself about (which he does as much as anyone). The fourth element of scoring is a problem but it's his first season and it looks like he'll end up with 5-9 goals. If he can post double figures next year (and i think he can) then he's doing grand - he doesn't look a 15+ goalscorer but there really aren't many of those around anyway - it's a myth.

Honestly, and I'm not just saying it 'cos JPF's annoyed me about it, this kid is top drawer. You will really, really struggle to find someone willing and able to put in this kind of shift. At 21, he can be all Costa is and so much more. I mean, this is a club owned by Ashley, chaired by Charnley, yet we have the European-renowned Mitrovic putting in a massive shift. We talk like it's nothing, to bully Premier League defenders, to make 60+ touches a match, to make 5 key passes. But he is something. He has a job Cisse cannot do. In fact, name me one player we've had in the last 15 years able to do what he does?

Embrace him, love him, he is Aleksander The Great!!!

He's my favourite player. A striker is more than a goalscorer and mitro puts a shift in. The goals will come

The thing is, this is modern football - the Shearer/Cole thing of scoring dozens a season is so very rare; Mitrovic will be indirectly and directly involved in 30+ - that's the new measurement. He's mint.

Didnt see last nights game but thought he played well against Man Utd. Still sometimes plays little flicks that dont work and ball often doesnt stick as well as it should but created and scored one. Fact he strode up and despatched the penalty showed he has confidence. Hopefully goals will start to flow as well.

Needs time. Also needs a goal from open play. I think he will come good in time, whether that will be here will be is another thing altogether.
