We'll have to agree to disagree. I think he caught his ankle as the foot comes down, studs raked down your ankle bones are enough to make anybody jump!..
I liked the way we were attacking. The tempo was quick enough, and players were being ambitious and creative, even though this resulted in losing the ball more often than not. More of that, please. The problem early on was a couple of missed chances, especially the one by Alli, and a lengthy shirt grab of Kane in the box that went unpunished. It's not usually given, but why not? It was a very blatant foul in the box. We continue to play perhaps the best football without getting enough points. On the other hand, a loss and a win is a point better than two draws. There's a good case for playing Rose and Trippier, certainly against weaker teams, and perhaps period. They create more goals than Davies and Walker, and goals are what we most need. Has Pochettino started giving players days off from practice? They're looking fresher on short rests, especially Eriksen.
Which one? Mahrez dived about 15 times the other night and added a nice few rolls with them too. Great player but doesn't need to cheat like he did.
Good second half from the lads, we weren't bad in the first half to be fair but didn't seem clinical enough, when Sunderland scored I just thought it was going to be Leicester all over again. I thought it was brilliant that Allardyce brings another CB on for a ST only for them to collapse when trying to play for the draw. Had egg left right on his face and rightly so, it's so small minded to bring a CB on with 30 mins left to try and preserve a draw so that felt like a perfect middle finger to that ex-pikey ****er. Pretty gutted he manages them as I've had good banter with Mackems in the past so wouldn't really like to see them go down. Thought Vertonghen and Trippier played well today, Jan made some great tackles and moved the ball out from the back nicely, where as Trippier got up and down well supporting both the attack and defence, not sure if Walker was injured or dropped but Trippier has earned himself another Prem start at the very least I'd say. Nice seeing JD back, he applauded the fans twice throughout the game when we were singing his name, nice to see he still appreciates us and knows we still appreciate him. Great win, just what we needed.
And you would know, being that you see it on a regular basis from the Leicester players, falling over at the slightest touch and over reacting to buy soft free kicks, Ranieri has certainly schooled them well in this Italian art. Why not try playing football to score goals, instead of relying on set pieces and chasing down hoofs up field.
Did not see the match, but from the score sheet am I correct to assume I will see Eriksen fronting up in CM on MoTD tonight ??
I've seen Spurs shoot out of the gate twice recently, against Leicester and Everton, I think. I actually think the players were trying too hard in both cases. You can't win the game in the first five minutes, and you risk burning out. Today and the game after Newcastle, coming off losses, the team looked less confident, and it helped, I thought. When we're giving the other team a bit more of the ball and letting them play in our end a bit, it gives us counterattacking chances, which we're good at converting (considering how few we have of them).
Back from the game. Went with a mate who supports Palace who couldn't understand why the crowd were so edgy in the first half. I've gotta say that I agreed with him. Our team is soooo young. We're relying on a bunch of kids and getting upset when they don't deliver us the earth on queue. Let's all give them some space and accept the odd mistake. Yeah, we lost to Leicester but they've just thrown away a lead to Villa. Compare our kids with the overpaid bunch of ****s at Chelsea, Liverpool and United and have a rethink on how well they're doing. We had some overdue good luck today mainly for Eriksen who is due some personally. Our defence played very well and it was great to have Dembele back. Kane was superb, just top notch. Their keeper played really well and is as good as his reputation. No matter how the season ends, we're on the right track. COYS!
Sorry...I have no issue with Leicester or you but that is a stupid assessment of what happened. .. if you wanna wum maybe you should go to one of the wum threads
This was the first PL game in a while I haven't been able to watch. Delighted that Erisken is back among the goals despite apparently not playing so well. I'm hopeful that his recent dip in form is more due to lack of confidence than sheer exhaustion. If it is the former then a brace today should help immeasurably. Very pleased to see that Poch listened to some of my advice Re the line-up . I would've dropped Walker for today irrespective of how congested our fixture list is as a couple of the mistakes he made mid-week were unforgivably bad. Delighted to hear that Trippier had a good game as he really does offer us something different down that flank. I can't remember who posted about it earlier but our entire defensive unit as it is currently is probably the best we've ever had in the PL era due to its depth and variety. The fact that we have 4 more than capable, young FB's each with an almost completely different skill set to his rival is an incredibly useful asset when you're competing on 4 fronts every year. As for the DM, I'd always expected the Poch system to end up with a CB converted into this position, as Poch uses the DM in a different way to probably any manager we've had in the recent era. TBH I'd expected it to be Toby as he played there on more than one occasion for Soton, but as was said - exceptional astuteness from MP to perceive young Eric as the more suitable candidate for the role That Dembele goal had more than a whiff of Bale about it by the way; we've missed the big Belgian so much and keeping him fit will be integral to our fortunes this season. Good set of results elsewhere: Leicester concede late on to drop points as do Palace and West Ham. We have a nice 4 point cushion as things stand which no doubt we'll do our best to p*ss off the edge of a cliff but tricky fixtures for United and Arsenal tomorrow hopefully going our way and suddenly it isn't all doom and gloom anymore
I think we're all confused as to what he's on about, to be fair. I'd love to know what his take was on the handball penalty they got today though, not to mention Huth's flailing arms inside his own box. Typical Leicester just not getting decisions from the referees
I'm personally more confused about his tendency to repeat almost exactly the same sentence over and over again in the hope that the reaction will be different. I believe Einstein has a famous quote about such behaviour...
I am still trying to work out what Trippier has done today to make several people say he deserves to be there ahead of Walker. Yes, he did get forward well, but that is the way Poch likes his FB's to play. Defensively, he is bang average and whilst Walker will never be the PL's best defender, I felt we missed him today. There were several times when the Sunderland no3 charged forward completely unchallenged by Trippier., he doesn't seem to know when to hold, when to jockey or when to push his opponent into a dead end channel. For sure, he is a level above Kyle Naughton, but for me Walker remains our best RB.
