    See I thought we had a solution to this. The idea is that both Tettey and Mulumbu should be able to screen the defence but get forward a bit too. It comes down to if they and their team mates are on it or not. We play poorly and give the ball away and they sit deeper and deeper and isolate those in front. If we play better then it all moves forward, the fullbacks can help make up attacking numbers and compensate for the midfield lack of width. But it's all so dependant on some confidence and keeping the ball a bit better. Teams who press us hard tend to really unsettle that, did Bournemouth do that today? Fundamentally I believe in the system and even in the players ability to play it some of the time. Age old thing though, better players make it easier. I'd make a few changes;
    Firstly think Hoolahan shouldn't play away from home, maybe less so full stop, if Naismith does arrive I think that will be inevitable. He will work the oposition much harder closing them down and make more happen more often hopefully. If not Naismith I'd like to see Vadis there. Somehow we need to get a balance in the middle to keep and retrieve the ball better. Whether that means no wingers with Tettey, Mulumbu, Dorrans/O'Neil Howson and Vadis and again Brady and Pinto bombing on I don't know but nothings gonna work if we font turn up!

    Bah!

    Of course, everyone is frustrated. Trying and failing to sign players is obviously better than not trying to sign players at all, but if you are the club and you end up not meeting your transfer objectives for the second transfer window in a row then you have to accept responsibility and realise that your strategy isn't working! Board needs to wake up, like the players needed to against Bournemouth!

    I'm also tired of people saying if we spend money we will be like QPR. That is the worst case scenario, not the most likely.

    QPR would buy a new squad. I think most people on here are saying spend decent on a Striker and a CB. Nowhere near asking to do a QPR.

    And instead of WCT we would settle for upgrades from championship quality to midtableish quality given that is our main aspiration.

    Bah!

    I was talking in terms of the wages we pay.

    Sorry but Redmond isn't interested in playing for us anymore, it MUST be obvious to everyone.

    Ah I see. I don't think the players linked with at the moment will be stupid wages. Naismith and Klose. They are not going to be as high as we would have had to pay for Nkoulou, Ranocchia, Quintero or any of the other superstars talked about on here. Think we are aiming within our means now.

    I agree with most of what you say, but alternatively if we had attacking midfielders the opposition wouldn't attack so often. Our current lot stop play on the halfway line and either pass it sideways or backwards, it's SO slow sometimes it's painful to watch, and we generally end up losing the ball by doing that letting the other team hit us on the break. Tettey is the biggest culprit, and Rsdmond seems to be looking for a move, he's been terrible this season.

    That wouldn't seem the best way to force a move. Maybe, he's heard of the interest, wants to stay so is laying low. Then will burst into form after the window!

    The only positive I can think of is that Grabban didn't score against us.

    They were probably fired up because we mugged them off.
