I'm confused, where did you find the attendance figures?

I don't if they're right, someone on here said about 6,000. Clarification would be good.

Looked a lot more than 6000 in the Kingsland alone if I'm honest.

If this is to become an annual event, I may try making a holiday of it. Was a bit short notice to plan a trip across the water so hastily.
If I lived withing 200mils of Southampton I would've gone every measure to be there.

fatletiss.......fair enough buddy.......My understanding was that there was more than 6000 present.
I understand your sentiment in regard that it was almost a year ago and perhaps more should have turned up for the memorial game. Where we differ is that you see it as some sort of insult to the great man because not so many turned up as you would have liked.
I do not, in simple terms, agree. We all choose to remember things in a different way. I am not criticizing anyone for wanting to remember him through a football match. Equally I do not like being criticized because I chose a different way of rememberance. As it happened I could not be at the match, normally I would have been no matter what the occasion. To me the best memorial I can give to the man is to carry on being a loyal fan and to turn up to as many matches as I can and where I can and to support his dream.
When I have gone I hope my own children and their children will carry on where he and I left off...........

Do you reckon they'll be many for West Brom? It's only a tenner for a ticket and it's free for kids. I think part of the problem with the Memorial Cup was the ticket price as others have mentioned. If they were a little less, I reckon more would have gone, and also I don't think the club pushed the tournement well enough as they've been too focused on season ticket sales in the last few weeks.

The Kingsland was almost completely full and there was about a couple of thousand in the Northam so I would guess the attendance was more like 9-10 thousand.

After watching the Cortese 'Markus' tribute video on Saints Player, I do feel a bit guilty about not being there now, it puts a different light on NC but you have to watch it to understand. I understand the acoustics/speakers in the Kingsland have not improved and I doubt those present would have heard what he actually said. No official figure quoted yet but the 6,000 was early doors, did more people arrive as the day went on? It was the length of the event that was a bit of a problem for me, I also went to another event which I was able to take advantage of a Senior Citizen concession. Critical when finances are tight.

nearly 30,000 people were singing Markus Liebher's name at home to Walsall in May, so I don't think his family or Cortese need be in any doubt about the gratitude most fans feel for the guy.

So what if only 6-10,000 turned up to watch a pre-season tournament in July, when many people are on holiday, many can't justify the expense, and others would quite frankly rather be watching cricket? I didn't go because I pretty much switch off from football during what passes for a summer in this country, not because I wanted to insult the memory of the man who rescued us from extinction.

But if it's true that some people booed Alex O-C, that is shameful.

I was gutted at the turnout but the atmosphere was great, the tournament excellent, the beer fantastic (I hate Carlsberg, Saints Ale not bad either), the banter brilliant and Lallana amazing as always.

I had a cracking day and would pay £20 next year (just don't tell NC). Hopefully it will be Bilbao and another euro team.

AOC got booed the first few touches but the rest of us were right behind him shut the booers up!

Can't comment on the attendance figures as was sat right in the middle of Kinsgland centre.

I havn't re-newed my season ticket because I didn't have the money when they went on sale but I did have the money in March, then spent it on bills! The Girlfriends brother in-law got her a job down at the stadium on match days so I cant go cos I will have my boys who I feel are to young to attend the footy, so hopefully in a few years time I will be back at St Marys. That will not stop me from going to as many away games as poss this season, cant wait till Barnsley!

I did think of this when I heard about the long video being played. It seems that they have any sort of speech muffled out but yet have montage music ridiculously loud, you can't think!

The acoustics in the Kingsland south have never been any different since the start of the first game at St Marys, my real concern is that if there was some kind emergency we would be struggling with understanding instructions, not bothered by the music, that just washes over my head anyway.
