The problem with Fulop is that he isn't very consistent, and with the state of our defence some matches, we need a 'keeper that doesn't make 10 howlers a season. He's a cracking shot-stopper, but there's only so long that can keep him as our number one.

We have had both Fulop and Stockdale here before and Fulop looked a quality keeper for us. We was going to buy him for 1M and then Roy Keane seen he was doing well for us so upped the fee to 3M so we pulled out. We had Stockdale when we was in League 1 and he looked a decent keeper but had alot to learn. He looked alot better when he played for Fulham last season. Out of the 2 i would prefer Fulop. Maybe if you signed a better 2nd choice keeper to push Fulop he would cut out some of the mistakes

    Good luck for the season

You are so many miles off the mark there Proud Fox. I wouldn't even agree that Fulop is a good shot stopper. I think our best shot stopper wad Brian Murphy who we have let go to QPR, but he wasn't tall enough and had severe distrubution issues. Last season though, Fulop was just rubbish with the exception funnily enough of the games against Arsenal in the Carling Cup semi.

Stockdale on the other hand was exceptional for Fulham last season when Schwarzer was out - Fulham fans will tell you he is every bit as good as Schwarzer and will eventually replace him.

I think your judgements are based on years gone by and not on up-to-date information.

well i think stockdale is a better keeper than both lonergan and Rachubka so im dissapointed that it doesnt look like we are getting him but i wasnt looking forward to loaning a keeper with a 24hr recall clause in the contract

When we had Stockdale he looked very nervous and wasnt too sure about himself. As i said earlier he looked alot better when he played for Fulham last season. The England call ups dont mean alot now adays because idiots like Rob Green, Scott Carson, Scott Loach, Frank Fielding are all called up. Stockdale isnt even first choice at his club and yet he gets called up

One (unreliable) source says that he will be unveiled tomorrow - season long loan with the recall clause.

I think that speaks well of Stocky rather than badly of England.

If Schwarzer wasn't so good, Stockdale would be our first choice. I'd take him ahead of any other premier league's second choice, and ahead of quite a lot of premier league first choices. I don't think he's a rival to Joe Hart at the moment, but I'd put him ahead of any other English keeper on merit, with the possible exception of Ben Foster who has bizarrely retired from international football.

We nicknamed Fulop "Dracula" cos he hates crosses! I just hope this guy Stockdale can command his box better than Fulop and give our shaky defence some much needed confidence.

Each time I read a report of how much Swansea have offered it seems to go down.

Personally i am getting rather bored with will he wont he,usually followed by
some sort of criticism, regarding his ability. Most, if not all of us FFC fans,
are already aware of his capabilities, thus the reason we don`t want him to sign
    for another club permanently.
DS is not only our future regular keeper, but also Englands.

The swans I believe offered £2m+ for him, but it was turned down, so we tried to get him on loan instead but fulham wanted a 24 hr recall on him, which is not possible in the premier league, so we have given up on signing him according to our manager, so it looks like we are in for Camp from forest instead

The saga is at an end. Its just been annouced that Stockdale will go to Ipswich for the season. He has also signed a 4 year extension at Fulham so I think we can assume that he will be our no 1 when he returns from Suffolk.

Hope the Ipswich fans appreciate him - I'm sure he'll do a good job for you!

Great keeper, wasnt keen on the 24 hour recall clause. Think Ipswich will do well this year <ok>

I think alot of loan deals have re-call options installed in the contract so i think its not really anything to worry about, he coud get called back after one game or play the full season or even get injured playing for us.
