Fine if he left in the Summer. The last time I checked my calendar, it said we were still in January.
Nowt in it for me to stick up for the Board, but the club valued him at £15m last summer and had he been sold for less than that the fans would have gone ballistic, as usual. As soon as it was clear he wasn't going it meant that a decent season become play off places at least, just to cover the lost income on his sale. Now we have wasted another 5 months, busily discarding nearly all the summer purchases and kids as not good enough, left with nothing to build on.
Can anyone give me an answer to why he hasn't been on the bench for months but passes a medical at a prem club !!!!!!??? He should be playing for us until the ink goes on the paper we pay his ****ing wages , we are in the **** because we let him sit at home tossing it off till a move Pathetic
Jimbo from what i have read today from Sir Les on the Offy saying Charlie wanted out so 'in the best financial interests of the club' we sold him. They obviously knew he was going so the protected the deal. I am not saying Charlie wasn't injured but i reckon for the last 2 games he wasn't risked.
To Southampton, according to the BBC. A great, great shame but, unfortunately, a very sensible bit of business and I wish him well. Thank you, Charlie and good luck.
Austin is a professional footballer, not an R's fan. He will want to pursue his (short-but-well-paid) career in the best way he can - for himself. We all do. He is entitled to pick his next club and good luck to him. I would guess that it's the club who benched him and pretended he was unavailable for selection, not the player. By keeping him injury-free just before the transfer window (how I hate this artificial concept...) they've made sure he could be sold if a suitable bid came in. I think £4M to sign him half a season before his end of contract is a fair price, so I've no quibble with it. £12M to get him a full season early was also a fair price at that time, but totally unrealistic now. I'm pleased we've settled this and can look forward to consolidating our place in this division whilst taking the time to build something more sustainable for the future.
Only realistic option, given his contract situation, was to sell him in this window & I am glad it is done. Totally ambivalent regarding what he does at Southampton, I'm only concerned with QPR. We have 2 weeks to sort out replacement(s) It had better be JFH telling LF who he wants coming in & not the other way around. JFH needs to start to build his own side with his own players and that process needs to start this week.
Good luck, Charlie. I'll miss seeing you playing in the hoops, but will look out for you and your progress at Southampton with interest. For QPR, it lances a boil - the boil being the fact that we could have lost a major asset for nothing in the summer. JFH now has to rebuild the team between football seasons. We should get some idea of his intentions from the business he does in the current window God knows what the psychological states of our players are... oh, to be an ITK. We could be in for a rocky period
Charlie deserves to be in the Premier League and I wish him well. I do think our club has screwed up as usual and has missed out on good money. He is an absolute bargain at our expense. We now officially have the weakest attack in the league and an under performing team. For me the decline really accelerated when we appointed our Director of Football. If we get relegated this season I'm going to be very p*ssed off.
A lot speculation from sky sources that it was 4mill but it was undisclosed so what do they know? For all we know it be 6/7.
Well balanced comments, totally agree. I am sure some of Charlie's absences were down to injuries, but of late, could very well be protecting him, to ensure smooth passing of potential medicals. The business risk of holding on to a £12 mil asset in the summer, for potential playoff contention, then cutting risks and realising £4 mil, when playoffs are out of the question, are understandable, and reasonable.
Shows how much Ramsey, JFH and Les have cost us. If we were in promotion or at least play off contention then there is no chance this would happen JFH must win today before the negative spiral becomes too much
You don't fail a medical for carrying a short term injury. You only fail a medical if you have a chronic career threatening injury But he probably wasn't injured, whether it was the clubs decision, Charlie's decision, his agents decision or mutual that he didn't play who knows
