I think this might be a good game for us today. I know West Ham are doing really well. And they do have some quality players. But I'm hoping that mclaren plays the same as we did against many tactics but swap colback for Shelvey and Perez for the other new lad. They both have a good opportunity to hit the ground running.

Man Utd was a good sign of what could work for us. Methodically using Mitrovic to create space for Wijnaldum and Perez.

We need to get Wijnaldum, Shelvey and Perez making runs around Mitrovic.

Not just hoof aimless balls up the pitch to an isolated mitrovic.

    -------------------Mitro-------------
    -----Perez--Wijnaldum--Sissoko----
    -----------Colback---Shelvey----------
    Dummett--Colo---Mbemba---Janmaat
    ------------------Elliot---------------------

Bring Saivet on later if we're needing a goal. If we're defending a lead, just bring Shelvey on.

I had quite fancied doing a Match Day Thread. Now I see the difficulty levels involved, i'm not sure I can spare the time.

With the game between Bournemouth and Norwich going on this has to be a win for Newcastle else things can get really bleak.

My forecast for the afternoon: The injured Carroll takes his place in the stand and, somehow, passes the Newcastle medical is signed up despite his injury which will later keep him out for the rest of the season after the first five minutes in training. Then at the end of the season he's released on a free as a relegation clause is triggered in his contract.

Was hoping Saviet would be in DM in place of Colback but team looks ok ( if they start on front foot ) Good to see Aarons finally back and ready to show us what he has. Decent bench. On Sky not one expert picked Newcastle to win so we're in with a chance.
Nice to see Mackems thumped 4-1
