None of this gossip, none of the online or newspaper stories and none of the odds mean sh*t when it comes to Charlie. The last transfer window proved this otherwise he would have been transferred to half the premier league last summer. Fact is no club have genuinely expressed an interest yet.
I think the fact is his advisors have told him to see his contract out and to see what he can get as a signing on fee and well paid contract. Best of luck to him, he's shown he is prepared to work to be successful - there's are a lot of mercenaries out there who don't deserve their wages.
I completely agree with you on this Ted. The fact is that he's been in and out so much this season that we've had to get used to life without him. We might as well cash in and replace him now.
Sadly, we have little say in the matter, Charlie will stay and we can't force a sale. If a top half PL club agreed a fee he might be tempted but being a free agent is far more lucrative, the ball's in his court. The nightmare scenario is he goes on deadline day and we're left with Polter and JET to keep us up...
Scold me if this has already been posted, I couldn't bring myself to read all the posts but - I live in Soton, locals are saying he was at the Saints game on the 13th, no confirmation but they all seem pretty certain, read what you like into that.
Good move for him, and he's from that part of the world. Presumably they expect to lose Mane soon. He's playing a dangerous game. Either the club rejected offers in the summer because of cash, or he rejected the clubs. There is no guarantee that a top ten club will chase him in the summer offering big wages, especially as he seems to be perma injured. Essentially he has written a season of his career off. If I were him and Saints, Spam or Palace were interested this window I'd jump at it.
Hope this is true. Saints should have just stumped up the money before the season started. Hope they don't mess about for the difference in pennies here and miss out to Spam or Palace. Pay the money, get the deal done, no messing about, quality player at Saints and QPR get commensurate and fair compensation rather than nothing in the summer.
If this comes off, I think it presents excellent business for all players, clubs and agents concerned.
They are also reporting that he's passed a medical* and has agreed personal terms. * I'm surprised at this as the club has been saying that he's been injured.
Fair enough. Brace yourself for miraculous recovery from hamstring injury. I think he's been kept in cotton wool for a couple of months. If done, cheers Charlie and thanks for all the goals. You deserve to play in a better team.
Might have been better to have taken the 12m pre season that was on offer but his early season goals could prove crucial come the end of the season, £4m isn't bad for someone who only has a few months left on his contract. We absolutely have to get someone else in though that can score goals!
I agree, good luck to him. The thing that grips my **** though is how the club thinks we're stupid and treats us like mushrooms. We all know he wasn't injured. He was fine after his brace v Brighton and then gave a live interview saying he wasn't going anywhere. The club then effectively retire him and lie to us.
If it's £4 million it's derisory in terms of what they're getting and another regal cock-up by all concerned in overpricing him last summer...
