On the money ... we play most games with a front two of Vardy and Okazaki, who aren't going to win many balls in the air ... according to one stat on our board we have actually made 28 more 'long passes' than Spurs in the enirety of the season to date - and what does 'long pass' actually mean anyway - at what distance does short become medium or long? ... no problem with Vertonghen really .. good to see that he actually cares about getting beat if you ask me ... but there is a certain delicious irony that he appears critical of a style that aims long when internationally he regularly plays with Benteke and Fellaini ... those well known petite, tricky, keep-it-on-the deck and pass and move types
If he cared about getting beat so much, he should have kept his eye on that giant kraut of yours, instead of giving him the freedom of WHL to pick his spot.
In fairness it looked like Dier was initially marking Huth before the corner was taken ... but he collided with Alderwiereld as Fuchs launched it and was flat on his arras as it reached Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuutthhhhhhh!
It looked like very poor marking from Spurs to me. They were extremely charitable with that marking. As charitable, is this Spurs fan who uploaded the video of the goal and shared the Leicester fans celebrating
Please, don't go down that route, mate. The Spanners did that, last season, and it ended in heartache and tears. Look at Lee and Tricky ffs! They are shadows of the swaggering hoodlums that they used to be.
I'm surprised that we haven't played more than you have, actually. It's certainly a part of the team's tactics. Playing fairly pointless looking diagonals into the corners to shift defenders about and long balls from the centre-halves to midfield runners. Alderweireld's ball to Alli for the goals against Everton or West Brom, for example: The difference is that they're a much smaller percentage of the overall passes played by each team. Spurs average around 70 long passes per game and 411 short passes. Leicester average around 71 long passes, but only make 265 short ones. http://www.whoscored.com/Regions/25...amStatistics/England-Premier-League-2015-2016 You don't play a front two like Watford, with Ighalo fighting for everything and using his physicality to win knock downs or headers and Deeney playing off him. I don't think that anyone's suggesting that. You definitely do play a counter-attacking style which involves quite a lot of long balls for runners to chase, though. I'm not sure why that's supposed to be controversial. As Tobes pointed out above, it's winning games and it's for other teams to work it out and deal with it.
Listening to Radio 5 live this evening and they said that Spurs are still paying Adebayor £100k per week, even though he no longer plays for you and no longer has a contract with Spurs. The 'shrewd genius' Daniel Levy is really showing his financial wizardry by paying Adebayor double what Harry Kane gets. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ated-by-Tottenham-still-paying-his-wages.html
In other news, The Titanic has sunk on its maiden voyage! Yes, it's called a contract. His, by his own admission was settled when he was released by the club. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/tottenham-release-emmanuel-adebayor-after-6433985
Calm down petal Apparently you have to pay him 100k per week until the summer, unless another club comes takes him on. Then they will have to negotiate with Danny Trotter about how much of that £100k they want to take on. It's highly unlikely that any club will pay the whole £100k, so Spurs are looking at a situation where they have to pay Adebayor to play for another club !
Part of the terms of terminating his contract apparently, seems like this is news to you ? Maybe you should have held back with that Titanic reference
Despite leaving White Hart Lane in September, Adebayor is being paid in full by Spurs until he finds a new club or for the duration of his old contract that would have expired at the end of this season under the terms of his exit. Incredibly, that means the striker remains Tottenham’s highest earner, on more than double what Harry Kane currently pockets, even though he is no longer contracted to the club. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ated-by-Tottenham-still-paying-his-wages.html Shrewd
Termination of contract is just that. If, as you claim, we were still paying him, he would not have been released from his contract. He would be effectively home on 'gardening leave' but still under contract. It holds no water that the club would continue to pay his full wages and release him from his contract. The story, apart from being a couple of months old ( usual desperate ****!) sounds like it's misinformed.
Oh, well, if it's in a newspaper it must be correct of course, what both the club and the player say must be wrong!
Maybe you are misinformed ? The Telegraph story is from 2nd Dec. They seem quite certain that it was part of the severance conditions. So do the The Standard http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...o-take-striker-until-the-summer-a3139546.html and The Sun http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...raking-in-100k-a-week-wages-at-Tottenham.html and the Mail http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-000-Tottenham-despite-not-playing-March.html and hotspurhq http://hotspurhq.com/2015/12/02/whoever-signs-adebayor-must-help-spurs-pay-his-wages/ and the list goes on: http://thetottenhamway.com/article/spurs-are-still-paying-emmanuel-adebayor-100k-per-week http://www.givemesport.com/671461-tottenham-hotspur-still-paying-emmanuel-adebayor-100000perweek http://www.enfieldindependent.co.uk...ebayor___100_000_a_week_despite_leaving_club/ Still, Man City paid some of his wages when he joined Spurs, so I guess you can't complain too much
We can all see that you are desperate to recover even a little bit of the pride and dignity that you lost in the recent butt-pummeling that you took over your "Berahino" debacle, but this is look so dreadfully needy, Pixie. I think you should think seriously about going into hiding for a couple of weeks.
Ive challenged you to back up your claims over your Berahino debacle and you are currently bottling it. I think we all know who's ****ed up over that. Anyway this is about the 'shrewd genius' Danny trotter, who's currently paying adebayor £100k per week even though he doesn't play for spurs
Oh well, that half a million pay rise Danny Trotter handed himself doesn't look so bad compared to the fact that he's handing out almost the same amount each month to adebayor
