If those deals are happening but it doesn't matter whether Townsend is coming or not.

You are thinking if we sign Townsend that means the other two are going. I disagree. If we are selling the other two we are regardless. It has been proven time and again, Mike does as pleases. He could sell both and not sign Townsend knowing Mike.

I'm happy to wait until I'm proven right before we continue this debate my good friend.

We will sell sissoko and tiote and buy Townsend, another slow striker and get relegated

I don't disagree but the two are not linked. We know this with Mike

He will know roughly what sissoko will go for already and the club will have identified Townsend as a replacement, so I'd argue there's a link.

Im a little vexed today my good friend please don't think I'm being a **** i wouldn't to you buddy

Maybe so. Personally, I said in the Summer I'd have swapped Sissoko for Townsend then. When we played so poorly so long, which heavily included Sissoko, I felt vindicated. Now Sissoko's playing very well and I like the bloke, I'm not fussed. I'd probably rather he stayed - better the devil you know - but Townsend is a capable little player and another we shouldn't be writing off on the basis of a tenuous media link!!

Nah mate all good. A little debate does no harm. You are thinking like a normal club though. Mike never gives a ****.

I think he does care about survival given the 66 million hes pumped recently.

I was surprised by the Shelvey signing. The new French bloke was expected to a degree but i'm not sure about Townsend.
He seems lazy and a bit of a sulker.

    It is apparently done. £12m.

For a young England winger that is good business IMHO.

    Happy.

A £9M upgrade on Obertan, just a pity that is only in money terms. Obertan has more assists for NUFC than Townsend has for the spuds!

I'll fully back him but jeez such a let down of a signing! Beginning to wonder what our formation is going to become? Where does it leave Sissoko? Signing two central midfielders who are clearly first teamers means what for Gini? So many questions but beginning to see strength in the squad!

He's a better player than our league position fella. So therefore an inprovement IMHO.

He is a bottom half player and that's it - long term wise we will need to upgrade!

I think this is part of a shift change that is long overdue. We would all assume that spending £12 million is paying for a first team player - or to use Newcastle speak, a purple player. It looks like the club have finally woken up to the fact that you need a squad filled with purple players, and £12 million is pretty much the going rate for a squad player of Premier league quality. The real 'purple' players who you know will be picked whenever they are fit would likely cost a lot more than £12 million now.
