He was selected 39 times... Thats not the same as saying he played.
Put it ths way, our league postion over the last three seasons shows you exactly the standard of players we have at the club.
He has had two good games in two years.
Three years ago he was a real prospect but IMO never got over the hip injury he suffered mainly because Warnock kept playing him when he should have been rested.
He wont make more than 20 league appearences for you in his time at Goodison.

A VW Toerag how apt. <laugh>

I can't argue with your opinion, as you watch the lad every week, however, it doesn't seem to fit with what I've heard from other Leeds fans.

If he joins I'll watch with interest. He'll get a chance at Goodison, whether he ends up being good enough to make an impact at that level, only time will tell.

if you get the player who had 3 good games recently, then he's a bargain,if you get the other one,he will stand and watch the game with you but on the pitch.

He's been playing right side midfield of late hasn't he?

He'd not get a game in that position for us I don't think, as we play 4-2-3-1 and the wide right attacking role is fought over by Lennon, Kone and Deulofeu.

So it'd be right back or nowhere, and he'll have to get past Seamus Coleman to take that berth (who's out for 3 weeks at the minute).

It's not an area where we have a real need to strengthen, as Stones is currently filling in for Coleman and Jagielka has come back at CB.

I know we've been tracking this lad for years though, so we obviously rate him.

When he plays to his absolute best, the times he has shone for us it has always been right midfield. As a right back he is an average Championship player when at his best. If you put him in at RB in the PL you are going to be in for a nasty surprise and if he faces anyone with pace, you're in trouble.

Speculation on the West Ham Rumours site says that the 2 players they have offered could be Joey O'Brien and Nikica Jelavic

Competition is good. Hopefully will boost the value and/or provide us with some additional talent.

As Ristac says above, got very little value as a right back to be honest as we have at least 1 maybe 2 better than him there, good in the Air and going back 3 years was very promising RM.had a serious injury then and has never made it back to the same standard. He was only offered a new contract early season at half his wage and that's all he was worth TBH.Afraid I agree don't think he will break into your team regular, unless he's been playing bad to force a sale but don't think that's the case.Hope he becomes the player he was for you, only time will tell.

There's not a chance of Byram taking Colemans place. I'm a big Coleman fan from his Eire appearances and watch his performances with your lot regularly. Byrams not a patch on him and Glory was being honest in his assessment, not sour grapes. Ask yourself this question, if Byrams so good, why did you not have to beat four or five pl clubs to his signature

You can say the same about Deulofeu, Stones, Galloway and Coleman himself though.

The lad must have something a bit special otherwise we'd be nowhere near him, neither would West Ham or Newcastle

Totally agree with your first sentence mate. Even from a fans stand point the West Ham switch seems to be a better move for Byram. Goodness knows how far down the pecking order he will start at Everton

O'Brien started his career at Bolton and moved to West Ham. He's a full back, He joined West Ham when they got relegated. Henry from what I've been able to gather is a Canadian International who is currently at Blackburn on loan who plays somewhere in defence

Tobes, banter aside, Byram seems a decent player to me, though I would listen to the views on here that have watched him week in/ week out rather than me but I'm not sure what you get out of it.
Will spending near 4 million on a right back in January, with no premier league experience get you top four?
Oh, and not that I give a **** about the other team in your area, but with your "tag" dig please remember that your manager got Wigan relegated then ran away <laugh>

The tag 'dig' aren't my words mate, they're a quote from a Kopite on here about Klopp a couple of weeks before they appointed him :)

I agree that it's not an area I'd have seen as a priority for us this January, but we'll see how wise a move it is in time I suppose.
