I just seen this on twitter from the Post.... Signing right players in Jan is "nigh-on impossible" claims #BristolCity's Steve Cotterill: http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/BRISTO...28519052-detail/story.html?platform=hootsuite Followed closely by... #BristolRovers have completed the PERMANENT signing of #CambridgeUnited's Rory Gaffney. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/BRISTO...28528576-detail/story.html?platform=hootsuite You couldnt make it up really could you!
Good news for us. I reckon SC will be gone if City lose against 'Boro. RR = Red Robin. Poor bloke...he gets it in the neck from all the others over there!
Not sure who Red Robin is. I cant remember the name so I dont know if he was around or not before I stopped visiting them. Not sure if I should ask but I will.... Whats he done wrong to get it in the neck as you say? Cotterill has been sacked according to twitter!
Its a shame really. Im split 50/50 on this. As a rival, its sad to see him go because he is doing well for you (banter) but on a serious note, after last season hard work by him, winning the league so easily and the JPT too, surely he deserves more time. At least a full season in the championship. I honestly believe you would stay up as there are 3 worse clubs than yourself and I have heard you are playing well too. Now waiting for a new man to join then time to assess the team will leave little time to bring in new players. Now this could cause you to actually get relegated. Think this will be a very big mistake sacking him. Lansdown will have to break his wage budget thats for sure! Then when he does this, you have to ask yourself, why couldnt he have done this early for Cotterill? Anyway, remaining on a serious not, all the best with the rest of the season
They were finding it difficult to get new players in. Can you imagine any worthwhile player wanting to go there now?!
Surely whoever is in charge now until a new manager comes in, will find it harder to attract players! Wonder if Holloway applies for the job?
Here are the current odds.... http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/bristol-city/next-permanent-manager Nigel Pearson favourites at the moment!
I'm devastated they sacked Cotterill as he was taking them down - they may benefit from 'new manager bounce syndrome'. However, who would want to go there with a threadbare squad and at the end of the transfer window? For a club with a Premier League standard stadium and a billionaire owner, they don't half know how to totally **** things up - Keystone Cops stuff In addition, I must say that we're showing remarkable restraint. If the boot was on the other foot our Ted cousins would be over here gloating like Professor Gloat from the University of Gloatness! It's days like this that I miss Chris Gashead, Gas and the other Ted baiters! I think I'm giving myself an ulcer with all the effort in restraining my desire to give them some stick!
It would just be too easy Bb! I passed Ashton Gate today and saw the white shiny framework of their new stands and couldn't remember what they reminded me of. Then I realised. The white skeleton of a dead elephant lying on its side.
It would indeed be too easy BB! I'm not one for kicking someone when they're down - even Teds! I've had a look at some of their threads this evening and Wiz had even cryptically warned me off by stating that he doesn't want any 'bald Hollowheads' over there - I think he might be alluding to both myself and Ollie! I wonder what section they'll give us at White ElephantGate Stadium next season?
I miss the banter tbh like the bbc606 days (and you should know me well enough by now to know thats true). But it got too personal for me. Im part to blame for that and I truely learnt my lesson. Im not putting myself in that situation again where someone retaliates and crosses that line again. But dont stop on my account though. Have fun guys for me Im sure they wont get personal with you. Somehow I lost their respect but they respect you guys. p49 is a mod and had other accounts yet still have their respect. I was a mod and never had multipal accounts but lost their respect. You bluebaldee took the piss all the time out of them yet always got on well with them and had their respect. Me, well I took the piss to start with but then became a mod and stopped taking the piss to try to help both sides grow. I worked bloody hard in the process. I did get on well with them, well I thought I did but somewhere along the lines, I lost their respect and I doubt things will be like how they use to be. Im ok with that now, although its a shame but im happy to stay on the outside And yes, there is a violin playing in the background before you ask. Have fun for me though please
I don't think the 'banter' will ever reach the vitriolic levels of a couple of years ago CJS regardless of what happens to the two Bristol clubs. It clearly went over the top. However, I occasionally pop over for a dig - and if they go down I'll have my fun for sure! I get on with them over there - there's some good lads, despite them being dirty Ted ****s and to be honest, it's a semi-anonymous forum so I couldn't care less what people say in the long run. I quite often post on a couple of political forums, including BBC Have Your Say and the levels of abuse are quite high despite fairly tight moderation so it's all water off a duck's back to me. That's the joy of social media and the Internet - you can say things that would get you into a fight if you said them in a pub!
Michael Appleton is the new favourite for the City job. Here are the bookies top 10 favourites at the moment... (in order) Michael Appleton Nigel Pearson Neil Warnock Gary Monk Stuart Pearce David Moyes Ian Holloway Keith Millen Steve Clarke Chris Powell http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/bristol-city/next-permanent-manager Looking at the above list, to me, Appleton, along with Chris Powell, are the worse choices. I dont rate them at all. I think either of these could send them down. However, I think Keith Millen would be a great choice as he has City connections and would have lerned a lot at Palace. Holloway, Warnock, Monk and Pearce would keep City up and they will be your typical mid table club in the championship but nicely clear of the relegation zone. Then you have Pearson, Moyes and Steve Clarke who will obviously keep City up and if supported by Landsown, can be real contenders next season. Some real good big name managers in that list!
