Never quite fulfilled his potential with us, but did pretty well overall.
Scored some very good goals, but didn't do it consistently enough, unfortunately.
Our third in the 4-4 with Arsenal is very underrated, for me:

His opener in the 5-1 cup semi-final was another decent one:

He's ok as a pundit. Not amazingly insightful, but not annoying or sleep-inducing, either.
Hope he does well in his new career.

Been without a club for a while, but never officially retired. Only 32, so had a few years if he could have got over his injuries.

I agree he's not the most insightful but it's good to finally have a pundit without bias towards Man Utd, Liverpool or Arsenal.

The Jenas goal that stood out for me was the equaliser in a 2-2 draw against the goons in the 90th minute at the Lane in 2007 I think it was.. Didn't half put a smile on my face.

I always remember the sublime Bale goal that was turned into a work of art away in Italy in that CL season, it was Jenas in the bottom of the picture who followed the run the whole way. Admittedly he didn't have the ball but it showed something that few players would have been capable of. On balance I'd far rather he'd been at Spurs than not. Also an above average pundit, and as was said, refreshing for not being associated with one of the sky teams.

  6. Top pro who was a good servant for us, scored some memorable goals and featured in some significant games. Would agree that he maybe didn't achieve as much as he promised and was very frustrating at times - to the extent that my missus thought his name was Uwanka Jenas as I was so often shouting that during games!
Wish him well in his new career and think he will do well.

I think Jenas was one of the good guys, whilst I would agree that he didn't consistently hit the heights that he was definitely capable of, he was none the less a good player for us who scored some great goals. I am also pleased to see him working in the media as its about time we had someone in our corner.

Lest we forget perhaps his single most important contribution in a Spurs shirt (@1.22)...

    :emoticon-0139-bow:

I've always seen Jenas as a classic and tragic example of a player picking up a bad series of injuries at precisely the wrong time, returning to fitness to find that their professional ship has sailed. I thought he was immense in his first few seasons. His injury record took a severe turn for the worse right about when Harry was rapidly improving the team in all departments. The 2009-10 season saw the emergence of Hudd and Wilson as the midfield mainstays in his absence, with Niko Kranjcar providing more goals and assists than Jenas ever had and a certain pint-sized Croation fast becoming one of the best players in the PL. But it was the following season that really saw the team pull away from the player in terms of quality, with any combination of Modric with Wilson or Sandro being by far and away our best option in CM. It's a shame, because those two seasons were crucial in terms of him building himself back up to match fitness, but there was never a window of opportunity to do so.

Unfortunately, Mike Dean is our referee at the Lane on Saturday against Sunderland.

I like Dean, his celebration for Dembele's goal against Villa was quality.

Not a wise idea to get uncle harry in during the transfer window, he could do serious damage with 15 days still left :1980_boogie_down:

Which shows what a true football man he is and nothing like my impression of the man when he was at Spurs. Where he appeared to be all ego. I have obviously done him a disservice.

    Apologies Harry.
