From Rob Tanner #lcfc closing in on Amartey. Copenhagen and Ghana defender who would couldnt get a permit for in the summer Fee agreed around £5M
Younger version of Morgan - if he turns out to be anything like big Wes, we have a real gem. Wonder if this means we will go for Austin again as well - bidded for him in the summer too...
This is the kind of signing I like, young and with bags of potential. We have 5 players who would be classed as potential first team centre backs and all but Moore are moving towards the end of their careers so we need to be prepared.
...Ranieri will definitely 'sign off' when Walshy convinces him of the 'merits' ... on record that Walshy did this with Kante (initially identified pre-Claudio - Walshy convinced him this was THE one to get) ..good call eh?
We were after him when NP was in charge - would have technically been CR's first signing if he got his work permit. Steve Walsh is the head of recruitment and he is the one that finds these players. If the manager tells him that there is a position we need filling or he finds a diamond in the rough, he sits down with the manager and director of football to evaluate them and decide if it is worth going for them. Is the way we got the likes of Mahrez, Kante and Krameric who none of us heard of before we signed them - obviously some works out much better then the others.
Story in the Daily Mail about Arsenal wanting to pinch Walsh and Ben Wrigglesworth who is head of technical scouting whatever that is.
He hasn't been that bad - his biggest crime is wanting to go play European football with Liverpool and having a mardy strop when he didn't get his way. As I mentioned in the January transfer thread, if we get him then send Big Wes and Wasyl to have a word and his attitude will improve very quickly.
I think now is the best time to incorporate some younger talent into the side. We are safe, we need to bring in younger players to learn from some of our more experienced players. CR has always looked to the next set of young talent, like Chilwell this year. I wouldn't mind him, think his and Vardys pace would scare defences silly, his negative light is all off field, hes still professional the other side of the white line. Not sure about his work rate but he doesn't come across as a lazy forward. Would still take him on the basis that he could at any point have a hissy and leave, just get the most out of him while he's here.
Very excited about this, he looks an absolute beast. Where do we think he'll play? Personally I'd like to play him as an attack-minded right back, he looks like he has the pace and power for it. We've got numbers in midfield and this is probably where he'd fit in best. I'm still not a Simpson fan, so maybe that's why.
