Obviously Sam still needs to agree personal terms, and pass a medical, but I don't believe we will see him in a Leeds shirt again. Was 4m the right sort of price? Would you reinvest (if you could) in the squad now, or wait til the Summer? Anyway, back to the match thread. Leeds make the short journey down to Hillsborough Saturday lunchtime to play the Wendies. It hasn't been a happy hunting ground of late, but Evans has got the team playing as one, and if we can cut out the suicidal mistakes, we will be a hard team to beat. It looks like Antenuci's head has been turned following interest from Italy, but Evans does not want to lose him this transfer window. Why hasn't Ant been playing much over the last few weeks? Is it because his head has been turned? Who would you play up front? If Ant were to leave, how much would you want from him?
Morning Elland I think that is good money under the circumstances. I would spend it IF the right person became available. If we get some added cash for Antenucci I would imagine the loan for Lafferty will be squashed and we buy him on a permanent deal?
Morning Elland. Think £4m is a bit under his true worth, but maybe there's a sell on clause. Good luck to him. Now we move on. On Antenucci, not sure why he's not starting that often. Maybe Evans thinks he can't play as a lone striker. Fair comment I think. On who we should play up front., I'd play Wood if fit with Dallas and Caryol out wide
Morning ristac, 4m hmmmmm. Just thinking Botnemouth paid 8m for Brabban though. Not bad, but with so many clubs chasing him........
Morning Boggers, kinda agree. Think we could have played one club against another and bumped it up a bit... Is it fair to say wingers (in general) can play either wing / both
Morning all £4 million for a championship player who has six months on his contract isn't too bad. If there isn't anybody coming the other way then the West Ham deal is a lot better. I couldn't care why Ant isn't playing. If the rumours are true we'll be saying bye bye soon anyway. As for playing up front I think 2 from 2 games should give Duke a run until he starts playing **** again
I think with Byram it is a bit of a gamble for teams chasing him... Out of contract in the summer, a tribunal might set a fee nearer £2m and are we basing his value on last two months or last 18 months form? He is 23 this year, awkward age for a player joining a Premier League team when the truth is they probably aren't quite good enough to get a start yet. If Byram had 18 months or more on his contract would he be worth double? I believe he would however would a team have been willing to offer that much, I don't think they would. Byram has played his last few seasons playing for a team in the bottom half of the Championship. Byram is attracting interest because the contract situation means a team is getting value for money, not a bargain but they are not having their pants pulled down so worth a gamble?
Yes, left wingers go down their line & pull the ball back. If they're on the right, they cut inside & shoot. Right wingers do it the other way
Morning all. Nothing more to say about Byram. Hes gone to further his career. Dont blame him. Price only relevant if reinvested and not sure this is right time to invest it. Dont want players in a swap deal unless they are players Evans specifically wanted. As usual were paying the high price for a decade in Championship. Watched last 20 minutes of Wallies debacle last night. Empty ground, dire football, Morisson brutal, we really are Real Madrid compared to them. PS, Glad sense prevailed last night Matt
Is it worth the Gamble? Maybe, there are a few clubs after him so there must be something about him. The question is, is he good enough to displace their current defence if not what's in it for Byram?
Just to add on the Byram situation... He might have said he is unwilling to join certain clubs, it might be that he said it is Everton or I run my contract down
Sam was wanted for £8m in the summer so the guy has cost us £4m by not signing, he could have signed and we could have promised him that we would sell him if any decent offers came in. Maybe unethical but good money for both parties and it would have the helped the club. So long Sam and thanks. Wendies have way too much fire power than us with the Forrest and Hoops, if only we had that quality we would be pushing for top 6. We need a striker espesh if Ants is on his bike and Wood needs support in some games and Duke cant play up top on his own neither. We have the wingers and they need to be able to put the ball into a striker who can use it and give us some end product, but we are still messing about with half a dozen shots at goal per game. Beckford used to have at least 10 on his own and if you dont shoot you dont score
I was thinking.... If Byram played for let's say Gillingham or Burton.. Would we be happy signing him for £4m I don't think he is a good RB I think there are quicker more pacy right sided midfield players too
Maybe Eire. But in my world, our wingers watch vids of Grey & Lorimer, & then re-produce what they've learned
Whereas theyre actually studying Kebe and Steward videos Just kidding, theyre ok but I get frustrated at the poor crossing. Glory can vouch for that
I think if we were pulling him up from league 1 then that would be a different story. £4 million he would have to be a wonder kid
Bottom line is.... What will we do with the £4m If we get two loan players I won't be impressed, Evans is the man in charge, if it is enough to buy 1 or 2 of his targets fine. I don't mind if it is held back until next season if the right targets are not available, problem with that is look at what was promised with the Ross money...
