I don't like her music, however I respect that she was very talented and it is very sad that she has died.

There were clearly issues and if anybody thinks otherwise then they are incredibly narrow minded.

That a person has died yes i admit is sad......the emphasis on this above the oslo/somalia situation i do not accept.

This. The BBC and SKY news lot think one life is more important than the 90+ that died a day ago with their priority coverage over the Winehouse death.

Most of us knew this would happen.

I loved her music and it's a shame we have lost a great talent.

    She joins the 27 club.

As plenty other posters have quite rightly already said, whilst it's sad that a young woman has died, it's not too surprising and pales in comparison to events in Norway and Somalia etc.

    All very sad nonetheless.

I'll be honest and just state that her death means nothing to me.

Didnt know her, liked her voice but if it's drug related then I have no sympathy for her.

I state this as someone who has been involved with a family member who's drug addiction tore apart the family and threw all help and advice back in our faces over a ten year period and blamed his family for his failings.

He had the same upbringing as me and I'm not a drug addled twat who thinks society owes him something.

Never ever tried drugs myself but it's part of the pop culture it seems. I think even Cliff (Mr. Clean) tried them at one time.

Once into them it's hard to kick and the habit just seems to get stronger. You'd think with the money being spent on drug enforcement agencies they'd find a way of stopping them from getting into the country.

Sad to see so many people "not bothered", about this. She could have, and now probably will go down as the greatest female British singer of all time. She lived a quintessential rock star life and ultimately paid the price. I think there's more to it than saying if she's not strong enough to kick the habit it's her own fault, a close family member of mine committed suicide because he couldn't beat his demons, his life was taken over by an illness that deprived him of sleep or any sense of clarity, a drug to take the pain away (and in other peoples case a bottle of vodka) and help him rest his mind eventually took over his life. This was an illness, the same illness that sees peoples children sleeping on Britains streets, peoples daughters selling their bodies for cash to fund this illness.

Just because the doctors call it "addiction" instead of giving it a name people who have never had to deal with such problems first hand feel they are qualified to offer their two cents as if it's worth anymore than just that.

RIP Amy - I hope she has finally found solace

We always feel more for the famous than the not famous, 92 died through one man's insanity/evilness. Amy Winehouse will get number 1 next week, the 92 will get forgotten about before the summer's out. Sad but true. Always sad when people die, unless its someone like Bin Laden or Saddam.

No I'd still say these Norwegian events are the main priority for the news channels, but it's all about waiting for further developments i.e waiting to be able to start clearing the rubble and trying to find missing bodies in the lake.

Lover her or hate her, Winehouse was an iconic figure regardless of her private life. Her death is big news worldwide, as is Norway.

    <ok> and returned.

It is unfortunate - but these things need to be put into perspective.

Couldn't agree more. The events in Norway really put things into perspective, don't they? Football, the lot.

What you've got to take into account though, is that its home news, Norway obviously is not. And, unfortunatley in this day and age, with the celebrity culture and all that, news of a major celebrity dying, is going to take the headlines. Due to people being so bloody narrow minded and obsessed with reality TV and Celebrities

Yes, it shows that we should all value what we have - however mundane in may appear at times.
