Well, I think that's a great film, personally. Watch it every Christmas to get in the mood - have even started calling my girlfriend "Plumpy"
I went to Wisconsin and walked into a bar ............. didn't find 3 beauties though, just a few rednecks and a waitress who was 15 years older than me, but who thought my accent was "cute" ............. but then my name's not Colin ..............
Tricky question this. I worked for a private sector automotive engineering company as an engineer. When there was no job better than senior engineer I was promoted to Project Manager. Took me a while to get into man management but being a personable chap it worked well. Question is, will engineers work better for an old engineer or someone trained in management who hasn't been an engineer?
That rings true. Public sector managers often don't want to deal with problems or start the lengthy disciplinary/performance process because it involves months of unpleasant conversations that often lead to accusations of bullying/harassment, especially if a previous manager has ignored a problem. I'm relatively new to management myself so I wouldn't claim to be an expert by any means. My current manager used to manage the team I now manage (she was basically given responsibility for a second team as well as mine and my job was created between her and my team). She didn't deal with a few issues when she was the team manager but she's very keen for them to be addressed now. Could this be because I'm now the one who's meant to do all the dirty work? Surely not! What I find almost funny is the difference for temps. I have a few temps in my team and the rules are completely different for them. One of the temps and two of the permanent staff have time keeping problems. With the two permanent staff they have to be monitored for months, arrival times noted, reasons for lateness collected, some sort of help or advice offered etc etc before you eventually set them some targets and warn them there might be a disciplinary if they don't hit the targets. With the temp I was basically told I should tell them to come in on time or we'd get rid of them and ask the agency for someone else. The temp hasn't been late since that conversation while the two permanent staff still come in late about once a week on average.
I had a ludicrously successful strike rate in American bars when I was there several decades ago - they all loved my accent, plus of course I'm ****ing charming ( although they didn't know I was English due to the west country twang, and guessed at South African, australian, kiwi and Irish before they got to English. I don't really think it mattered to be honest, cos foreign is exotic and therefore better, apart from being Mexican that is). I'm not called Colin though.
Beat you . Spent many a happy hour in Rockford Illinois in my Cousins lap dancing bar . No I was not the one dancing Free drink as well !
Cruz (a challenger for the Republican nomination in US) has accused Trump of New York values....saying that not many New Yorkers are conservatives. Wow...Trump is considered a liberal (who knew? ).
He actually was a bit of a liberal before he decided to seek the Republican nomination. On the rare instances of Trump ever expressing a political opinion he appears to have beeb quite progressive on issues like birth control, women's rights, same sex marriage, even race. HHe's even argued for getting the rich to pay their fair share of tax, and holding bankers to account for the damage they have done to the US economy. All of which, when viewed in the context of his recent pronouncements on immigration, muslims, guns etc suggests that he'll say whatever he thinks his current audience wants to hear. He's not running for President, he's auditioning, and he knows what the Republican judges are looking for.
There has been much posted over the last couple of days about sad passings, lemmy, bowie, Rickman etc and the year is only 15 days old. Not in the same legendary or media status as the others but one of my idols growing up was Colin vernacomb lead singer with the group black. He is in an induced coma in a critical condition after a car accident. Wishing him well and not another statistic. Superb songs including wonderful life, paradise and now you're gone never really gave him the recognition he deserved.
Very sad to hear - really loved "Wonderful Life" when it came out and wondered what had happened to the group. Hope he recovers
That's awful. Someone recently did a version of "Wonderful Life" on an advert and it reminded me what a great song it was, and what a great voice Colin Vernacomb has. Let's hope he makes a complete recovery.
I went to New York for 10 days to stay at Columbia University (yes I am stupid, I turned down the chance to study there on a soccer scholarship ) and for the ten days I was there as a 19 year old, I couldn't believe how the girls reacted to my accent. Great trip
Sadly, a lot of politicians are like this. There are some strong ones who try to stand by their values (I'd put the current labour leader in this category) but most say what they think people want to hear rather than stick to belief. Shallow people saying what they think people want to hear. Come on you Saints. Ronald Keoman is a king. Matt Le Tiss for PM, Markus for a posthumous Knighthood and Harison Reed, Ryan Seager and Matt Target to play every game for Saints *vote FLT*
The Government has said that pensioners need to make arrangements to be able to pay for their care when they need support and to ensure they have an adequate pension. They have also said that we must keep physically and mentally fit. The very lovely Mrs Godders and I have therefore taken a leaf out of the Hatton Garden jewellery heist's book and are busy planning to stage a heist of our own. Nothing too strenuous or dangerous but one requiring ingenuity where we will be left with loads of cash. At the moment we are working on a plan where I telephone Ron and pretend to be the Agent of a top player who is keen to come to St Mary's (this is really the very lovely Mrs Godders) and I will big up my player who is always scoring. There is however a signing on fee of £1 500 000.00 which must be paid in advance. Once we have the money we will be off to Spain on the next flight never to be heard of again. Now I know this has been tried before but I think it is worth another try and I am sure we can carry it off. Just in case the very lovely Mrs Godders has to go for a trial she has been out in the garden all morning kicking a tennis ball against the fence. I am not sure she is fully committed to the idea though as all she has done is complain about the cold and wanting to come indoors and sit by the fire with me. I am sure our idea will work as the very lovely Mrs Godders is already a far better footballer than Ali Dia and she is much better looking. We are hoping to carry this off so I need your support should she come on as a sub so please don't mock or laugh but give her all the encouragement you can. It is in your best interest to go along with us on this as if we succeed we will not be a burden on the state and all you young people will be able to spend all of your money on beer and parties and computer games rather than showing concern and helping to care for us old folks.
I think you'll be better off with a diamond heist godders. Have you considered a smash and grab in Mayfair? I know a nice little jewellers in Mount Street, though you'd have to be quick cos the traffic wardens in Westminster are ruthless.
