Should England have it's own National Anthem for sporting and cultural events? If so what should it be?

Or should we keep 'God Save The Queen?'

The Scots have 'Flower of Scotland.' The Welsh have 'Old land of my fathers.' and the Irish have ' A soldiers Song.'

Apologies to our foreign posters who have no interest on this.

Ireland also has Ireland's Call used when a 32 county Ireland team plays rugby for instance, Northern Ireland has Danny Boy......

How about the verves bittersweet symphony
When it gets played instead of standing still everyone walks in a straight line knocking over Johnny foreigners who are standing still

I think we should stop resisting and use Lennon's "Imagine". It's only a matter of time anyway.

My 11-year old daughter is now studying Lennon at school as an historical character. Yes, really.

If Bittersweet Symphony or Imagine were ever seriously considered, I'd declare myself French. Hate them both...

I like GSTQ, my only gripe about it when sung at sports events is that it's too short. Fifteen seconds for us, then twelve minutes for the italians, whose anthem is excellent fun....

I'm so happy that our elected and taxpayer funded officials are spending their time on stuff like this.
Apparently yesterday our parliamentarians spent time discussing whether the 'fist bump' should replace the handshake as a form of greeting, to reduce spread of infection. As we all know, legislation on this will change the habits of centuries almost overnight.

I despair.

Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now for national anthem.

Heroes - Bowie (despite being about the Berlin Wall) as a semi serious suggestion
Boom boom shake the room - Will Smith. As everyone will fear us as it would be straight out weird

If we're doing The Smiths, then let's go for "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others"...a national anthem, quintessentially English, and could become a comment on the obesity epidemic amongst the fairer sex. What's not to like?

The song should come from the heart

The heart of England

A Somg that represents any town or city in this country

Something that captures and displays what England is like

watch and ponder am I right?
