So the club knew they had to move fast to find a new manager. So explain why we had an interim head coach, haemorraging points, goals and moral since october? I admit Riga is probably the best we could hope for, but only because our millionaire owner sets his sights on having the cheapest and worst staff pennies can buy. Genuine hatred from me, and if JR keeps us up, the hatred continues. Come back Dick Plum.
As @Royston Vasey said on another forum, these protests need to step up. Not being funny but if you look out there we have the following managers: James Beattie, Gary Monk, Tim Sherwood, Nigel Pearson, Gary Bowyer, Chris Powell, Ian Holloway, Stuart Pierce, Kit Symons, Brendan Rodgers And they're the ones that have lost their jobs within the six-twelve months. Seriously, how extensive was this search?
At the time of us having Karel "****muncher" Fraeye, we could have taken Sam Allardyce, Neil Warnock, Dean Smith (upcoming)
Whilst I have nothing personally against Jose Riga and hope that he will be able to do a good job with much depleted resources in this season, the appointment suggests a degree of racism from our Belgium owners who by their actions in not interviewing any British managers for the fifth time in a row when the club is based in the English leagues. If an Indian owned company in the UK such as Tata did this we would be screaming racism. Why is this not on the agenda of Kick it out. I am afraid that this is typical of my dealings with the Flemish Belgians in the business world, who do not particularly like the French but, in my experience have also shown tendencies associated with apartheid. Unsurprisingly Flemish Belgian and Afrikaans are similar languages.
Rick Everitt claiming that player power forced Karel out. A meeting was held on Sunday at which Meire asked two senior players in front of Karel if he was good enough ! Ricky is saying that comes from a very good source. Comical
So Jacko and Solly said, "we've played under good pedigree managers, whom were inspirational leaders up until two years ago... All we've had is **** since, but this bloke. This ones the biggest twat I've ever seen."
Duchatelet is in too deep now. He knows nothing about English football and seemingly has no one he can turn to for advice. If he had a miraculous change of heart and decided that he was going to find an experienced manager he wouldn't even know where to start.
Therein lies one of the problems. He does'nt even know who to ask. He has surrounded himself with yes men ( and Katrien) and sacked or forced out experienced people to cut costs. If you asked him to name a pre-war British prime minister, or the first man who landed on the moon, names like Luzon and Fraeye would come out, followed by an abject silence. If Murray had been any sort of man in the last two years, this would have been his moment to say 'I told you so' and start to help. But he is just another lap dog now.
Take anything with a pinch of salt. The rumours of an English manager being spoken to was suspicious at the time, and no journo has been abe to verify it.
We might see a bit of a new manager bounce, but Riga won't repeat his previous success. The squad is weaker and thinner, and he does not have Damian Mathew to lean on. We need to improve at least three positions to avoid relegation and I cannot see RD forkng out for that. Ahearne-Grant going out suggests a new striker coming in, or Watt coming back, but that will not be enough to avoid relegation. Only the fact that there are some other unusually weak clubs has saved us from being as good as down already.
Riga is just another pillock from Belgian(not that I am insinuating all Belgians are pillocks!). He'll go the same way as the others, and would not be surprised if he does not last the season.
It might be the Sunday afternoon booze talking, but I really fancy Riga to get us organised and out of the brown stuff. I'm reading nothing into yesterday's result. After being appointed on Friday JR simply didn't have enough time to even begin undoing what Shaking Stevens has done Ok, he probably weren't in any of our top 5 to take over, but he's got a pair of bollocks for taking the gig and the experience of being in this position before.
Maybe, maybe not Mike. If that were the case though why did RD jog him on last time after he did such a good job in keeping us up...?
Not sure about that Mikey, he lost the job originally because he wanted to chose his own players and then said yesterday that he wanted to bring in two or three players before window closes.
