It is being reported that the Pozzos are trying to sell their Spanish club.

    http://gazzettaworld.gazzetta.it/news/serie-a/udinese/pozzo-end-granada/

The reports suggest that they will spend their energy with Watford due to the financial riches in the Premier League, and the lack of them in Spain. It also mentions that the route via Spain to bring non-EU players to their clubs would be closed. Would this mean that a different approach is coming? So far it has been to have many players on the books and see which of them can make the grade. Would this mean they will be turning to established players more and not looking so much at the unknowns?

They are business people ...it is not impossible to imagine that Watford is being fattened up , to sell on for a healthy profit several years down the line .

I think they will keep us.....as we are more of a cash incentive than even Udinese.... but if we are relegated at some point in the future <yikes>

Maybe some of the legal loopholes are being closed in Spain ? The tendency there has been towards fan ownership of clubs for quite some time now - look at Real Madrid and Barcelona for examples of this. Britain is the easiest country (most unregulated) for people to come in from outside and buy a complete club (in Germany it would not be possible in this way - and France does not offer the same financial rewards).

Nothing is permanent Yorkie. The one consolation is that if the Pozzos do sell us then the value of the club will be such that no instable punter like Bassini could get hold of the club again.

Unfortunately the whole thing of ownership of football clubs in England has become something of a lottery - it appears to be almost totally unregulated when you think that Bassini must have been both vetted by the league and also ok'ed by some people very close to our club. The clubs that you mention got the wrong people at the wrong time and the fans suffered for it - we got lucky by comparison. Only Portsmouth has had a happy conclusion with its fan ownership model, though it may be a long time before they become a big club again. My concern is that the Pozzos are active in Italy and in England not just because of the profits but because this model of ownership only really works in those countries, and that only at the present period of time.

Random question, but does anyone know the rules behind parachute payments? I know they're going to be increased starting from this season and last for 3(?) years, but if a club is relegated to League 1 straight away do they continue on PL terms or do they receive Championship parachute payments?

My Leeds friends bemoan that they got Cellini and we got the Pozzos... such good fortune...

Paying the price for a lack of real progress?

Let's hope that doesn't happen to us but then the Premier league is the place to be money wise.

The report says they're not going to sell, and the Chinese contacts they have are for commercial purposes?

It says several times in the article that the club is not for sale.

Confirmado, ¡no quieren vender C.F. Granada!

Yes, just had a read of the article, and my Spanish is decent enough.

We could always buy Udinese players at a little cost plus price .The other advantage they have is player might sign for Udinese knowing if the do well they could end up being sold to watford . And then play EPL
