I think you have genuinely warped and unrealistic expectations if you think taking off your only striker and replacing him with a defensive mid is 'attacking'.

Nobody expects us to score five not concede every game. But there is such a thing as TRYING.

BTW, on your first bit, Man Utd have scored more goals this season than Bournemouth. Now, of those two teams, which would you say is more attacking? Because it certainly isn't ****ing United.

Tell me, at 2-0 against a clearly very poor side, what would you rather City do - replace Hernandez like for like with Akpom, or replace him with ****ing Huddlestone?

Huddlestone is a logical substitution to make in terms of keeping the ball, slowing the tempo and controlling the game. But that should not be as a result of removing the only striker on the pitch.

If the only choice for a 'like for like' replacement was Akpom, I'd sooner put Jakupovic up front.

Oh well I was going to come on and post about the ridiculous substitutions but this seems to have been covered already.

Why has Elmo suddenly stopped running at players, beating them and whipping lovely crosses in?

Now you're skirting the issue, Hernandez for Huddlestone was a defensive substitution, anyone who claims otherwise is quite frankly a moron.

Well you just destroyed any argument you was trying to make right there.

The question remains - like for like, or defensive midfielder? Anyone who says the latter is clearly taking the piss.

No idea, but I'd definitely swap him for Snodgrass on Saturday.

Believe it or not, being called a moron by someone on here doesn't really cause me the offence you've intended. I've already said I don't think it was defensive, that was the whole point of the discussion. The fact that everyone on here seems to have a diet consisting exclusively of your arsehole doesn't make you right. I'd say the fact that Bruce and Phelan agree with me and they've worked at the top level of football their whole adult lives lends more credence to my opinion if anything.

Definitely, the amount of times he could have taken on their player last night but didn't was so frustrating.

I've been calling for Elmo to be stropped for weeks. He's been rubbish all season.

Snodgrass starting has to happen now, in his place.

Has a minority opinion , claims everyone is bandwagoning.

    Oh dear.

Would that also be the same Bruce who thought not giving a **** about the Europa League was a good idea too? I presume you agreed with them then too.

Claims someone has a minority opinion, has no proof.

    Oh dear.

Fans boo substitutes they don't agree with usually, I've seen it happen at the KC before. Not one boo was heard last night though, weird that.

Taking an attacker off and replacing with a defensive player is possible the single highest reason we were relegated last year. If you look back at the points we dropped from winning positions by going defensive in the last 10 mins its shocking.

Up to now this season we have got away with doing it but against better opposition(hopefully next season) we will be punished again repeatedly. With no attackers then the opposition are just invited to press up the pitch as we have no output! Really simple to understand to most on here but clearly not to Steve Bruce or some on here!!

The fact you're the only one saying it wasn't defensive seems like pretty conclusive proof. If you're going to act like that, how about proving you aren't in the minority?

Fans don't boo substitutes, ****s boo substitutes.

I've never booed a substitution in my life, everyone I know has never booed too. Why? Because we're fans, not ****s.

    really?!
I've seen lots of substitutions I don't agree with. I've never booed any. I hardly think that happens "usually" or even often

It's not the general case but there definitely would be booing if it were the "majority" of people disagreeing with the substitution as it's claimed by some on here.
