I think the lad only scored 5 goals for Hull Cumbrian. I don't know how many games that was in, or whether it was a full season or only part of the season. I'm hoping it wasn't the former. That's not a record to pin our hopes upon.
Cheers mate. Thanks for the update. 1 in 3!! If he's fit and can hit the ground rolling, we might have a real chance!
Mariner was supposed to be the ref but Scott was a late replacement - anyone know why? It's just I cannot help but wonder if it was because the game got moved back 24 hours still Swansea have until Monday night to rest up and they can also watch us in action on Saturday morning
After watching it back on MOTD, I think the last 2 were both in line. The first one was probably two inches offside, but the benefit of doubt is supposed to go to the attacker so I don't think youc an really blame the officials. The red card I think will be rescinded but again I can see what the ref was thinking - he's given it for studs up dangerous play. The point isn't whether he won the ball or not, it's if he'd have been 0.1 second out he could easily have broken M'Vila's leg. I'm not as convinced as the pundits that it was a wrong decision but maybe that's just my red and white tinted glasses. The penalty was never in a million years.
Fate has a funny was of getting even. Not a red card and not a penalty. Defoe on the edge definite onside for two but probably off for the first. We needed that but please let's not revert to type on Saturday
I've seen the goals but that's all. How did Brown and Oshea do? Are we needing this new German defender sooner rather than later? Seems like big Sam is getting the best out of PVA.
Ive only seen the highlites also. Pva. Does well at times. But is a disaster in the makings. The sooner a replacement is found the better. One good game does not gloss over that fact.
You're bang on with the goals, I would have felt robbed had anyone been chalked off, just good play by Defoe. The Red Card ? We have had worse against us over the years. Point at Spurs, beat Bournemouth and we will be back in the mix.
That whooping was a perfect start to my working day! Thoroughly deserved, I agree with blunham. Swannies will struggle With AC. Hope me mate taff is ok
Curtis has improved us as a team. We "struggled" because of the sending off leaving us playing with 10 for almost an hour. That's what turned the game and if you're honest you'll admit it. Terrible officials that should never be let near a Premiership game ever again. A pen that never was, numerous offsides never given, a Rangel goal that was onside (because you can't be offside if it comes off a defender), it goes on. We may still have lost that game with 11 v 11 but I doubt it. Looks like both our teams need some luck to stay up.
I think sometimes you just need to be gracious in defeat. You can't change the refs result! All the best mate!
My post wasn't being critical of Sunderland (though M'Vila played his part in the sending off and deserves an Oscar) and it's nothing to do with being gracious. Sunderland didn't park the bus as I thought they would and they went for it. Credit is due for that. But if ever there was a game that was ruined and the result clearly affected by the officials this was it. On a massive scale. Being gracious is easy if you are beaten by the better team and I have no problem with that. Losing because of the officials' obvious and glaring incompetence kinda throws graciousness out the window.
I thought if you were in an offside position (and interfering with play) when the ball is kicked you are offside the fact that it then comes off a defender is irrelevant?
Rangel wasn't interfering with play though I accept he was offside when the ball was kicked by our player. But hey, what's done is done and imo the game was decided by the officials - particularly the Naughton sending off that will inevitably be overturned.
