Good Morning Everyone, BIANCHI HAS LEFT ELLAND ROAD. Looks like he is heading for Vicenza on a two year contract. He never cut it at ER. VERY possibly, Antenucci could be next. You'll recall at the end of last season Leeds decided not to exercise a clause to renew his contract, well... the Italian wants more stability than that. A few Italian clubs are jockeying for position to sign the 31 yo striker. Everton are about to make a 3m offer for Sam Byram. I cannot see Cellino giving the offer much consideration. Celtic Manager Ronny Deila has told Australian midfielder Tom Rogic a move to Leeds United would be a backward step. (Cheeky fook) Deila went on to say Rogic will go nowhere unless the move is in the interests of all sides.
Morning Elland. Bianchi is no great loss. So bye bye. Think Sloth may well be on the way soon as well. On this bloke from Celtic, who is he & whose place might he take? The SPL is Championship level at best, & L1 generally. So not sure the point of getting someone from Celtic. That said, we did get Snoddy from Scottish footy. So not all bad. On Byram, a move to Everton would be a good move for Byram. But I think Everton would need to up their offer markedly
Morning all. Before knocking Celtic, remember were trying to borrow Anthony Stokes from them. He cant get a game for them so what standard does that tell you were at. Cant see Antenucci going until Evans manages to borrow someone for that position. How many seasons now have we been expecting a Byram bid. Will one ever come and does his recent improvement in form coincide with scouts supposedly watching him?
Remind me? Either way, that would have been 10 years or so ago when the SPL was certainly better than it is now
Probably closer to 15 Boggers and we were infinitely better than now. Celtic are probably 20% below their squad of that time, we're 100% worse than our team that had Viduka
Good morning all, Bianchi didn't fit in, we have an abundance of midfield players so selling him while we can is good business. Antenucci is a 15 goal a season player, look at what we had to spend to secure Wood!! Can we assume Lafferty will be signed rather than loaned now? Byram for £3m sounds about right, as long as there is a sell on clause involved, he would easily be worth nearer the £8m some expected if his contract wasn't up in the summer, badly handled a few months back, that's when the damage was done..
Cheers Eire. Just shows that the SPL was markedly better then than it is now. If I were a gambler, I'd have put money on Celtic before the season had started, with the safest bet anyone could ever have. At least in the PL, there are 3 or 4 sides at the start of the season who reasonably expect to be competing for the PL title
Ristac, I think if Everton come back with a £5m + sell on, Cellino might just accept it. He'd then have up to £5m to bid for a striker. Not a good time to be buying a striker. But £5m would give us a chance
3m? Take it, he is out of contract at the end of season! Do without Sam for half a season and have 3 mil to spend (hypothetically of course, we may not see the money) is a no brainer! Morning all
tbh can see why we aren't making much effort to retain sam because Coyle is quite clearly good enough at right back and we can sign an actual right winger/mid
Fair point DON. But selling him for less than his true worth (£6m +) shows we haven't moved on from selling Lennon for pittance because we couldn't afford the add ons in his contract.
I think 6 million is a bit high. Byram has injury problems and hasnt had a good season for 3 years! Yes theres potential and yes we are playing him out of position and yes I think he will do well anywhere he moves, but we mishandled his contract talks and he is free to go (well tribunial) at the end of the season. 2.5-3 mill tops which is a shame as he has potential.
I would argue that no current championship player with 6 months left on a contract is worth 6 million pound. 3 million is high imo
