Interesting that he should think to do that. I think he is the least likely player to be recognised as he walks round...in fact I think I'd cross the road or avert my eyes if I spotted him. Definitely a lad who isn't like he looks.
Funny you should say that, I saw him just last week in Winchester heading into McDonald's of all places (I wasn't about to judge as I was off to the pub myself!) wish I'd spoken to him as he always comes across really well but it caught me off guard seeing him there.
There a worse places to live! If he likes history, he is in the right city to immerse himself in our early/medieval culture
Sell Wanyama end of the season. Keep Romeu, Clasie as the defensive pair. Then call up Reed as back up. We do not need to buy another defensive minded cm.
Clasie misplaced a couple of early passes but after that he was very good again. I could hear people around me moaning about him but I just don't think they get what he brings:
I have been impressed with him every time he has featured. I think with the ball he is a step up on Big Vic. He is also not afraid to drive forward when given the chance. I would be disappointed if he lost his place on Saturday 2nd best signing of the summer for me
Not yet totally decided. He can play some pretty passes and he does like to get into the box and take some shots. At times he puts in some solid, physical, effective tackling but other times he just hacks people down for no reason. I think the reason is he's a little heavy-footed so fast, tricky dribblers give him problems. That in itself might not be a big deal because everyone player has weaknesses and flaws. But I think he needs to deal with those sorts of players better. Give them space or mug them before they get the ball or whatever, or at least know the situation so that if you are beat, just recover instead of giving away cheap fouls. I think at a minimum, he's at least mediocre-to-average if paired with the right players. I do think Reed might be better-- if not now, then next season. But Romeu hasn't played much either, so he could improve as well. I'm in agreement with Beefy. I think we move Wanyama on (not that we may have a choice), and I'm okay with not replacing him. I'm good with two of Clasie, Romeu, Reed being starters and the other a solid backup. Or maybe we rotate all three. Either VVD or Davis could likely do an okay job for a few games as well if we really get in a pinch.
To me it's a know brainer on Saturday, Romeu must stay in the team ahead of Wanyama. Not only will / is he getting better with match fitness, but he also looks so much better with Classie than Wanyama does. Think it was around the 75th minute, when he chased back made a crunching tackle, only to get fouled by Deeney who got a yellow card. I thought the midfield 3 put in the best defensive / movement and passing performance of the season, hence the chances we created and the chances we restricted Watford to. So why change that to fit in a want away Wanyama??
Agreed. Wanyama has to wait now for his next chance. Playing him Saturday would send out the wrong message.
I'm a Vic fan. I agree with this though. Ideal chance for Ron to say, "fight for your place/move" to Vic. I also agree with the point in Clasie. I said after the Norwich game that Vic being suspended may benefit Clasie as he likes to get on the ball deep and more often than not, Vic is already in that space. I'd rather have Clasie on the ball than Vic. Clasie has another performance showing that he reay is finding his feet. My mate keeps telling me he's like a mascot and not strong enough but I think he's showing what he's about * *ignoring his two dodgy early passes last night where clearly the conditions were to blame
Both Romeu and Clasie have only shown us potential so far. What they might really be capable of we don't yet know. Plenty of promising signs though. As for Vic, we know his limitations but we also know what he can do; and he can do it against better midfields than Watford's. I'm not writing him off yet; perhaps he can be persuaded to stay in the summer, perhaps not. I'll have an even £100 bet with anybody that he won't be going to Arsenal while Wenger is there though.
