Liverpool should definitely be happier of the two. Depleted side, scored twice with a "striker" despite how bad they were. Arsenal don't want to win the league.
Sucks to lose it in the end, but considering we went down 2 times, it's not bad, and plus City also dropped 2 points, so all in all, not the end of the world. All of us would have taken a point before the game. If we can beat Stoke, it will be a good return of 4 points.
Could have taken 3 points if we were more clinical up front but a point is good against a Klopp team at the Kop. The battle goes on...
Considering United drew, and Spurs lost, and West Ham won, this point does nothing for Liverpool. Yes they will be euphoric for getting it in the end, but overall, it's 2 dropped points for them considering how strong they started.
On the bright side we gained a point on Tottenham and kept the gap on city with them drawing with Everton at home. Leicester go level with us but they are also in amongst some tough fixtures.
Well played Arsenal. I thought that was an exceptional performance by your boys for the most part Have to say, I think it was a mistake to sub Walcott and Campbell when you did. You lot looked solid and I felt at the time it might disrupt your game bringing Chamberlain and Gibbs on.
Have to say I think Wengers substitutions lost us the three points. The Ox lost the ball evertime he did anything, and it would have been useful to use Walcotts pace at the end. Will be good to get Coquelin back because Flamini was typically erratic with his positioning today. Campbell,Walcott and Giroud played well.
I'm surprised with how satisfied some of you are. We were 3-2 up with a minute or so to go, City had lost ground with a draw at home and Spurs were losing. Massive opportunity to create a slightly bigger gap between us and City completely wasted. I'm pretty pissed off with that result, to be honest. Doesn't really do us any favours.
I think Campbell was spent, he'd done so much running and he looked knackered. Walcott wasn't tracking back at all and Gibbs gives us good energy up and down the flank. It's just we never played sensibly, we never tried passing it around your tiring players or slowing the tempo down. We just tried playing on the break really quickly and losing the ball, allowing you to continue to counterattack or attack us.
It's just good that Man C, Tottenham, Man U, Liverpool (obviously) and even Chelsea all dropped points. It's ****ty that we couldn't wrap up the win. It was down to shocking defending though, nothing more - we really need to sort out the protection for our back 4 quickly. And the sooner Coq comes back the better!
On the whole balance of play, it is a good result, because the Arsenal of old would have been 4-0 down inside 20 minutes, were getting completely dominated and run over by Liverpool, went down two times, so based on all of that, it is still good to get something out of the game. Everyone on here would have taken a point in that first half when were so ****. A point at Anfield is not a bad point, they're always tough. We can also look at in reverse, this was a missed opportunity for City, they were at home, we were away to a tough side, and they couldn't bridge the gap.
I would have taken a point before tonight, and I'm still happy to take it now. The must win game is Stoke. Hopefully Sanchez is fit to play, we will need someone fresh players after that battle today.
I understand what you're saying, but we knew this was an important game to win beforehand and with a minute to go, to concede to a goal that, quite frankly Cech should have saved, is sickening to say the least. Whether they deserved it or not doesn't really matter to me. City indeed wasted an opportunity to bridge the gap, but we shouldn't be looking at this relatively. We need to be looking at it solely from our point of view by making sure we get the job done ourselves. Maybe it's because I'm still feeling quite hacked off about failing to see the game out, but I don't think the point is good enough. I'm really disappointed.
Yes it is, even when we were 3-2 up it's not like were dominating them and creating chance after chance, we never took the game by the scruff of the neck, heck they were the ones making the chances even when losing. It always sucks to lose it in the end (has become quite a habit at Anfield) so leaves a bad taste in the mouth, but if we were 3-2 down, which could have easily been the case, and come back to 3-3, we'd all be very happy. I'm still pleased with tonight's result.
It was one of those where you shouldn't have tried to protect the 3-2, but kept doing what you were doing and very likely got the 4-2 imo. I thought the outlet that Ozil, Walcott, Giroud and Campbell were giving you was excellent. They didn't lose the ball, won the 50/50 tussles and passed it well going forward and always looked like creating something. Even if you hadn't scored again, you provided had that very effective outlet. Once Chamberlain and Gibbs came on, you lost that and the ball kept coming back, piling pressure on your defence. Liverpool were tough opposition tonight and were pressing and pushing forward tbf. But I thought Arsenal up until the 76th minute, that's the best display I've seen all season. Solid, efficient, organised, clever football.
Liverpool imo played very, very well. Especially considering their injury problems and recent form - their tactics and application (except for defending the 18 yard box) was spot on
Quite surprised at the ones in here saying they'd have been happy with a draw before the game, seems like klopp resting players in the FA Cup paid off as they looked energetic enough all game, really expected a thrashing from you chaps so I'm pretty happy never mind losing the lead twice
There are two consolations that I can find. 1) We're still top of the league. Regardless of the fact that I think it's not a good result, we are still ahead of every other team. 2) The injuries we've had to our core group of players (and then some) haven't adversely affected our form too much. Despite how badly we've performed in some games, we've won 7 out of the last 9, drawing 1 and losing 1 (in all competitions). Elneny can't come into the side soon enough.
