Oh, and completely overlooked in all media outlets, even on the front pages, by the 'more important' business of Jose's sacking: http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...th-yorkshire-last-miners-prepare-to-resurface Not that we don't need the coal, just that it's cheaper to import it from Columbia where miners have little wages or conditions. Not to worry - our grandchildren will be digging up what's left in 50 years time for the Chinese, when everyone here is used to the the levelling down process of globalisation and are on even less wages and conditions than the Colombians. And oh how thankful they'll be for it.
Know what you mean but surely not even the biggest conspiracy loon (mention no names) would think the mourinho thing was arranged to distract us from the coal news. That has come about because of the shyte that most of the population demand from the media and TBF the BBC have done quite a bit on the mine closing. As for the issue of coal in general, well the problem is how do we solve the problem. There is no point digging the coal out the ground to then be unable to sell it at a cost effective price but to work out a real cost effective price is nigh on impossible so where should we start. PS i think the least we should do is to mothball the mine but then am not sure about the cost of this.
The cheap coal is coming from the USA as they are still producing the same as they were before the shift to shale gas. Basically they are dumping it on the market, like the Chinese did with their steel. The problem with globalisation is you have to take the rough with the smooth, bit the big guys get more of the smooth and can manipulate matters.
My issue with the mine isn't that it closed..it's been on the cards for some time. It's the fact that the miners kept it going and their reward for it is statutory redundancy...much more should have been done to give them enhanced packages and retraining.
Does anyone else see the similarity between Jeremy Hunt's eyes and those of Johnny Rotten, @ 1978? Same whizz?
so has this guy closed the labour party down yet? have the scots risen? Or is everyone with their noses in the conservative trough....
Funny how the Scottish nationalists have gone quiet now that oil is 30 dollars a barrel. They based Scotland being successful when independent on 130 plus a barrel. Love to see their projections based on the current price. Suggestions are it could go as low as $10 a barrel, but I bet the cost of electricity will not drop.
Not gone that quiet. The CyberNats(is) were celebrating Bowie's death, saying that Unionism gave him cancer. Vile. It was probably his enigmatic sexualty and youthful drug abuse that did that.
I'm sure in 50 years time Bowie's name will be remembered...not sure the SNP will...political equivalent of a bottle of buckfast.
Nah Just a bit pissed after celebrating our ridiculous clown like escape routine today, problem is I tend to get a bit truthful when I am pissed as you know.
Has the ultimate Wum finished with the Labour party yet? Tbf he has a majority of a few hundred thousand and some selfies with a couple of scruffies so....
