Eton and Harrow Schools, Buckingham Palace, the House of Lords, Tory Party Headquarters, The Stock Exchange, Talk Sport and Sky Headquarters hopefully with Murdoch trapped inside, FIFA HQ, The Ritz, Harrods, every country house built with the profits from slavery, UKIP Headquarters with every single member trussed up inside and doused in petrol, and that is just for starters.
Normally, these sort of things don't interest me, but it was nice to see an unassuming couple from Hawick have the winning ticket for £33M. Both 54, they are going to take early retirement. So, although they say it won't change them, it is already taking effect, and they haven't spent anything yet. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-south-scotland-35297396 Jerusalem for me too. Wouldn't mind the ELP version, on occasion.
Always amazes me that left wingers always assume everyone feels the same as them. Was at a meeting when a woman said, 'Sorry to mention the name Margaret Thatcher.' I said, 'Please don't apologise...a personal hero of mine.' Strangely she shut right up.
The far left always say such outrageous things (killing Cameron, Thatcher etc) that most people don't want to get involved so shut up....like if you sit next to someone on the train singing to themselves....this gives them the impression that people agree with them.
I am no fan of Maggie's as you would expect but I know she would see right through Cameron and see him for the weak, wet, wimp that he is. She would sort out the EU and House Ownership in a matter of days.
Bloody hell steady on I was only going to burn a few houses down I wasn't planning to kill anyone - well not many anyway. Vive la Revolution - Vive la République - Fight for Independence for Greater Wessex.
Such predictions are nonsense. Evolutionary changes act (over a considerable period of time) on characteristics which favour survival to breed. Since human beings are capable of getting round problems by ingenuity (rubber flippers to aid swimming for example) and look after the genetically disabled rather than letting them die, there will be nothing for evolution to act on. It is more likely that we will see strategic breeding/DNA manipulation.
Step 1: Spend heavily on the women's team. Step 2: Joint training sessions. For, y'know, camaraderie. Step 3: Wait 17-20 years.
I'm amazed it's taken so long to even discuss it. A stirring, meaningful anthem means so much - can't see big, tough rugby players welling up to "GStQ" but Hen Wlad fy Nhadau often brings people to tears. It's about the country, its history and its people, not a person who has happened to be born Queen (or King).
I favour England having it's own anthem, but I have seen athletes well up when singing God Save The Queen. It still represents their winning a trophy for their country....it will still be used for GB teams.
Ha. So true. I work in the public sector now, although I'm looking for an escape route. Trying to manage under-performing staff here is an absolute nightmare.
Republicans, like Myself and Godders, are often considered to be disloyal to the country. In our case, England or Great Britain, in the wider sense. But the very reason why I dislike GSTQ so much [apart from it being a bleeding dirge] is that it celebrates a person or institution, not the country, unless you consider that King/Queen and Country are one and the same. I don't. Godders doesn't. I am more than happy to have Jerusalem as an English National Anthem as it is no more jingoistic than GSTQ [read the lyrics of the never sung second and third verses of GSTQ]. I still have a video on a HDD in the house where an English athlete is accepting her medal at the Manchester Commonwealth Games, where they played Land of Hope and Glory. The tears welled up in the athlete's eyes as the entire crowd roared the anthem out. Because despite being probably too jingoistic to have as an official anthem these days [no more than GSTQ however], there's no mistaking that's song's celebration. It's in the title.
Suffering at moment...have eaten my Xmas choccies that I like, then the choccies I quite like....am now down to eating the ones I dislike. Life is tough.
