Well if Southampton can batter them 4-0 I'd say we can...........er.............umm..................maybe a draw?
The only thing I'm #worried about is the number of LFC fans who won't be celebrating when Benteke bangs in the winner. Doesn't look good.
why would you not celebrate him getting the winner regardless of whether you rate the player? odd fan if thats the case.
Tottenham v Leicester - hopefully a draw or Leicester win Man City v Everton - hopefully Everton get a result but more likely game over in 25 minutes Swansea v Sunderland - Swansea being dragged into the relegation fight #kneejerk Chelsea v West Brom - Chelsea have the chance to go above West Brom with a win
Was he our highest goalscorer at the time, having only been at the club for 6 months and under 2 different managers? Nope, he scored 2 goals in 12 appearances across 4 years.
I see the river Astrobollox is running strong today Even baffling you're fellow fans now lol.....They will even celebrate a Benteke winner lol
If we get anything there tonight, you can guarantee that some of their scruffy fanbase will start having a pop outside same as they did when we beat them at Goodison the other week. Gobbing at women and trying to start on blokes with kids, the manc **** houses.
Highest goalscorer...that stat is damning (of the whole club) not worthy of lauding. Mate I am not anti the player...he is a certain type of striker and a good version of it to boot. While we are in the mess we are in and have him as our only real striking option, if he does his job i.e. score goals then I will praise him and have done. When he doesn't score and I see that other than missing his chances (worth criticising any striker for) he isn't adding anything else to the team then I will also criticise him....all with the understanding that he has specific limitations and a distinct clash of style with what the manager wants to instill. If he manages to overcome that and incorporates his game into the team game, I will applaud him even more. However. I do not think he is what Klopp wants as his first pick forward. I do not think he is showing signs of incorporation. I Do think he has missed chances. I do think that he would not be in the team if others were fit. I do think we have better options (when fit). I do think thete are strikers we could buy that would be better suited to the team. To add to that I have been just as critical of other players. I have stated that at the moment Benteke is better than Sturridge simply because Sturridge just doesn't fancy playing football most weeks. I have also been very critical of Coutinho who is also, like Benteke, refusing to change his game for the team and become unacceptably predictable. Anyone that can not fit into a team game where the team plays at its best as a whole is a passenger and will lose us more games than they will win us as an individual. Benteke isn't a wee boy. He accepted the move to a team where he knew he would have to change to the clubs culture and not the other way around. He is paid well for that move. The least he can do is keep trying...if the rest of the team do not then recognise the effort then it is up to the manager to bollock them. I just haven't seen that effort yet. But as our striker, if he scores goals then he is doing the most important part of his job. This Benteke argument has become too focussed on the fans that defend him unreservedly and those that will not recognise any positives in him at all. Mist of us judge each player more subtley than that and resent being lumped into the two camps above every time we comment on his performances..good or bad.
fair..... but with 20mins to go and you need a change you need this type of option... theres a point when others just cast ridiculous arguments about then end up defending lesser players that such and argument can't be debated properly but I think what you've said is fair. If we have 2/3 players who actually play all the time we'd be more competitive but if we'd done a rodgers and gone into this year with ings sturrdige and origi on thier own we'd be where chelsea are. I agree that we need to see more out of him as unlike some i thin kyou can see the talent is there if he applies himself.
