What a fiasco for us and Everton. At the start of the window the transfer looks good & Naismith appears to want to come to us. But Everton get clever (not) and say the're in no rush to sell, hoping to get someone else other than Norwich interested, so they get more money. This raises Naismith hopes and all of a sudden he goes from being happy to go to Norwich to hoping he'll get a better offer nearer home. Things change for Everton and they need the money to bring in another player, but Naismith gets clever and asks for more money than we are willing to pay effectively stalling any move in the hope of getting a better offer and at the same time sticking one finger up to Everton. Naismith has nothing to lose by stretching things out. If we pull out he stays at Everton on wages for effectively training or potentially goes out on loan and if he plays well raises his value in the summer. Norwich may panic (unlikely knowing McNally) and pay over the odds or another team may come in for him, which he might prefer to go to or offer him more money. Naismith still holds all the cards because he can always drop his wage demands and move to Norwich anyway. He might upset AN by messing us about, but as recent videos indicate upsetting AN doesn't seem to be an issue for him. I can't believe that we have got to the stage we appear to be at in the transfer process and we've only just raised the issue of wages. Surely we should have had an idea about value / wages before we've spent so much time on him and helped him raised his profile to other clubs. I hope we've got a plan B. If it was me I would have had a plan B & C and it would have made sense to have the plan B running alongside plan A as if something goes wrong as it has we're still near making a signing and it also puts a bit of pressure on Naismith. Whilst I like McNally as a CEO I'm starting to think his negotiating tactics are not as good as we think. The only party playing a good game is Naismith & his agent.
We'll end up with Dwight Gayle and a centre half who's no / little better than those we already have, I'm beginning to get a feeling in my water Sincerely hope I'm wrong as neither of those two signings alone are sufficient to keep us up, imho.
Think it's easy to discredit anyone, I know lots were not impressed with Jarvis in the summer. Now look.
Well, from this, it doesn't look like Lafferty (Becchio MkII) is off anywhere soon? Loza loaned to Southend: http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...ith_southend_ahead_of_new_loan_deal_1_4377331
When the window closes I promise not to post "I told you so" ............... ......................... Well perhaps not
Will "decent" be enough? We need one good or very good CB, a good Striker and probably someone equally as good as Naismith (if that doesn't come off). "Decent" is what we already have and will not improve our position. Especially when the likes of Bournemouth are signing good and very good players.
After watching them last night, I'd say the jury is still out on that. Although I realise Afobe and Grabban need a few games to 'bed in' with their new colleagues. But, apart from them, Swansea and Sunderland have done little so far, Newcastle have signed Shelvey for £12m and Saivet, of whom I know very little, for £?. Maybe we should keep more of an eye on what they're up to and not fret too much about rouble-bags Bournemouth?
Fair point, but in the case of CBs, we have two 'decent' ones and that's it (if we're accepting Russ isn't really a CB at this level). I'd take a third 'decent' CB.
I guess so, though i would say that Bennett is slightly better than decent. He is our best CB (imo) and we need to better him even with a new signing.
I agree. At least two more would be reasonable now that Hooper leaving looks likely. If the Naismith rumours are true (and that's a big if), then we should move on to plan B which should already be in place. I want Naismith to come, but only if he's fully committed. There was an interesting suggestion this morning that Andrej Krameric might be available on loan from Leicester: http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/01/1...hould-strike-a-loan-deal-with-leicester-for/? Could be a loan with a view to buy in the summer if it works out, leaving money now for two more quality players.
£32,000 a week! I hope we weren't paying the overweight, lazy slab of lard anywhere near that http://www.celticquicknews.co.uk/ho...tm_campaign=Feed: co/IRuC (Celtic Quick News)
Pinto should know him well, as they both played for Dinamo Zagreb! His scoring record looks decent until he got to Leicester (2 in 15, though many of those are as a sub). 3 goals in 9 appearances for the Croatian national side seems decent as well.
My post from Monday, when I saw he was out of favour at Leicester. Pete O'Rourke @SportsPeteO Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri says he would not stand in the way of Andrej Kramaric leaving the club on loan in January. #LCFC All I know is he's a Croatian striker and a loan until the end of the season would maybe facilitate selling / loaning out either (Grabban - who has since left anyway) Hooper and/or Lafferty?
I wouldn't we've spent enough time, effort & money strengthening our squad. We need to start buying players that strengthen our starting 11.
You wanna talk about being mugged off? £12m for Shelvey. That's daylight robbery. I can't believe they have forked out that much for him, absolutely gobsmacked.
When Newcastle fans are restless their board gives them cupboard love, it's like having a wealthy absentee parent. I reckon it might be a nail in Swansea's coffin though.
