So what are we expecting then? Will Clasie be fit enough to start again? Reckon we might see: Forster/Stek Martina Fonte VVD Bertrand Romeu JWP Mane Tadic Davis Long/Pelle?
4-4-2/4-3-1-2 variant for me: Forster, Cedric, Fonte, Van Dijk. Bertrand, Romeu, Clasie, Davis, Mane, Long, Pelle.
Yay for the positive match thread. Some of you are struggling aren't you. Tom lasted 12 minutes Only change I would make to FLT lineup might be JWP on the wing instead of Dusan. I think he's more effective there and I would like good dead balls earlier in the game, not when we are chasing it. Plus Dusan can offer impact and doesn't defend well against pace, so wait till Watford are a little tired. Oh, and he should be dropped for the leg wave in front of Punch for Palaces 2nd goal. (**** that's not positive is it? ) We only need to avoid fatal errors for 90mins and we are bound to win. Impressed by Sadio's efforts Saturday. He came around like I said he would. With Rose coloured sunglasses on - Saints 2-0
I think we should go with a 5-3-2 (Yoshida, VVD, Fonte, Bertrand and Cedric at the back - I was going to say Caulker but he can't play now) - if only for Ron to wind up the fans .................
It is a really interesting decision and of all the words spoken and written this week, this one action may just tell us the level of pressure Ron is under. Big gamble.
Yep. As I said, there had to be a reason other than the Echo's "to give Gazza game time". I just hope that Fraser is indeed ready, should Stek not be fit tomorrow.
Cue the "Oh no - not Pelle" and "Cedric - he's useless ....." whingeing from a number of "fans" ............ God knows what'll happen if Frazer makes an error .........
Maybe Fats could do a POSITIVE match thread every week in addition to the basic match thread. If we win both threads would be very similar and I could read them both after the game and find out how well we played, we played like a team and couldn't pick a MOTM because everyone played well, Ron picked the right team and made the substitutions at the right time. If we lose I need only to read the POSITIVE thread, where we outplayed the opposition, had the most chances, hit the post 3 times, the subs made a good contribution, Ron still knows what he's doing but we were unlucky. Then I don't have to read how none of the players put in 100%, the passing was slow, this player played a hospital pass, our finishing was crap, this player is only here to pick up his wages til Liverpool buy him, the whole team and the manager should be sacked and we're going to be relegated for sure?
I'm sure some of the players must read this. If you were a footballer with a bit of time on your hands you would read what people on fans forums were saying about you wouldn't you? or maybe only once or twice when you realize that unless you've just scored a hat-trick most comments would drive you into a spiral of depression! I'm not even sure how under todays libel / slander / defamation laws slagging a player off is even legal? Personally I think every Saints player is brilliant! (and I withdraw any negative comments I made about Mane after his first 4 games for us - he was just finding his feet)
Team for the negative thread: Forster (in only because he has long legs, even though one isn’t fully fit, but our other goalies are crap) Cedric (can play with a head injury and Martina is just a flash in the pan) Fonte (not up to it really this year but he is the captain) VVD (only looks good because the rest of the team is crap) Bertrand (only playing because Targett is apparently really slow) Romeu (only playing because he only gets booked but Wanyama gets sent off and Clasie has Lallana Syndrome) JWP (must have someone from the academy) Mane (got to keep the sales up) Tadic (Serbian – every team has to have one) Davis (have to have someone to blame when we lose) Pelle (need someone to rival Lallana for beauty product promotion)
