Transfer Rumours The January '16 transfer rumour thread.

I know it's been said before by Koeman that we are only going to bring one player in, but I was rather hoping the board might be reactionary to the situation we find ourselves in. Teams around us are strengthening, and we need to be aware of that. We may very well pull out of our current rut without new signings, but it wouldn't hurt!

 

A fair offer, I'd say. Thats over 3 times what they paid for him 16months ago; and he's hasn't played that many times (ok there's Kedirah, Pogba, and Marchiso ahead of him).

 

Does anyone else find it strange that we're being linked with players in what's arguably our strongest position?

Unless this guy is more of an AM/No.10 then a bit more understandable

One player (almost certainly a midfielder, can never have enough midfielders, loads of midfielders, midfielders, midfielders, midfielders) is disappointing.

Club is not lacking in the commodity to buy players, money, so why not strengthen? I don't buy into this "you don't get value in January" nonsense, because you get "value" between June & Sept? Course not.

Something not right at the club at the moment, regardless of results.

 

Was just called by talkSPORT to discuss Saints this window. Will be on the drive time show, I believe.

Basically, they wanted a one minute soundbite of where Saints need to bring in a new face. I said seeing as Koeman keeps saying 'one player', and Shane Long has shown he can't deputise strongly enough in the absence of Graziano (and Jay) that it simply has to be a forward.

Particularly because no one is going to be getting value this summer...with the revenue jump, it's going to be an utter ****show. We're seeing a bit of a preview now, with lower table sides spending big in the hopes of protecting that revenue in a few months time.

You have far more direct connection to the club than I, but from the outside it looks like we have something of a lack of institutional control. Things seem to fester for quite a long time before being addressed, so we have parents upset with the handling of the youth sides, football ops upset with the manager, the manager upset with the board, scouts upset that action isn't being taken, inconsistent messaging from our principles, etc.

Does anyone know if Caulker's EL qualifying appearances for us make him ineligible to play in the competition for Liverpool? It would be great if it does, but they don't yet realise...

 

He basically refused to comment because he is not part of the first team squad. That's all. Hopefully Hunter would do the same when asked about a first team player.

Many teams strengthened in the summer too. We weren't reactionary then. I'm not overly hopeful that this month will be any different, sadly.

 

I'll be honest, the Newcastle and Bournemouth signings worry me. We will have to see how they pan out, but it seems like they have added exactly what they need to stay up. Although Newcastle's defence is still poor. Fingers crossed that saivet is useless, Shelvey throws a tantrum and iturbe struggles in the league!
