So how do they differ from brigade to brigade?

Are they not all a standard make just with different modifications?

I have been on strike a number of times whilst working for Sunderland Uni, but they have usually been one day protest disputes. The last one was last year and I was the only manager in the organisation who came out on strike, but on principle I felt that backing my union was more important than the negativity I got from any senior management..

I was involved with the Steel strike in 1980 lasted 13 weeks - more recently all of my colleagues who were in a particular union voted for a one day strike - I was not allowed to strike despite wanting to because my Union had not balloted me as I was the only member of that union on that site. Once the decision to ballot has been taken the union have to inform the employer so if I had gone on strike for the day I could have been sacked.

Very few people actually want to strike nowadays and I think as in my case it is a last resort. Don't be fooled by all this bulls**t that is bandied around in the press as they are usually very economical with the truth

I was only a kid so I found it cold and didn't really understand the dispute, but understood the loyalty to the friend so choose to take part even though my dad said it would bore the life out of me. It did. <laugh>

You've been busy Raw. Cobern would be perfect for you if he wasn't such an idiot. <laugh>

Corbyn is a disaster mate.. I was from a mining family who had lots of friends in the industry, so it was the natural thing to do for me..

Got some very good principles. But that's where it ends unfortunately. My dad was Coal Miner and Rig worker and was all about the Unions. He would have been sucked in by Coburn but would be damning him by now guaranteed.

I can't agree at all with Corbyn regarding both his defence and immigration stances.. These alone will ensure a Tory landslide if he remains as leader..I have seriously contemplated giving up my membership, but after a lot of thought have decided to stay and support my local candidate and be there to pick up the pieces once he has gone..

I'm not a member, considered it in the past but couldn't join the way it stands.

Good on you sticking around for your constituency though.
