Coming in now off various sources we've begun talks with him again. Hes already had his medical, so if it's true it could be completed by today.
Interesting this one....there's the Nags after signing that winger for 5 million are apparently getting Shelvey for 12 million. Bournemouth buying two players for 20 million and here's our outlay on two players so 750,000 with a buy and a loan......lol.......only Sunderland. Now we are back in for a guy who waited 8 days to sign for us and we knocked it back....don't you think Billy Smart's is too much of a compliment?
How f---ing long is it taking us to get N'Doye over the line, he was supposed to be completed last night then this morning, it's f---ing dinner time now and still no word, why do our club make a pantomime out of a transfer.it's totally embarrassing supporting this club at times.
Pantomine. Circus. Disney for kids. Take your pick. ES is like that annoying mime person at a shopping mall.
We'll be trying to get him to accept five hundred quid a week less, just as he's about to sign across the dotted line.
£12m for Shelvey no thanks!! Not exactly sure how to read the situation all in all - the Kone deal was off because he wouldn't take a pay cut if we got relegated from what I've been told - my guess is he's contacted us and changed his mind!! I personally don't think it's transfer outlay that is the problem at SAFC - it's players on high wages (Fletcher/Graham/Buckley/Johnson etc.) from managers like Martin O'Neill and Gus Poyet. Newcastle have, in the last few years, recouped an awful lot of money for their signings and now they're spending it wisely.... ish! Swansea have been able to do the same with minimal outlay. Bournemouth have just got a windfall of premier league TV money (as their players, relatively, will still be on championship wages) and can spend that - whereas we are operating at premier league costs with PL wages. I'm not saying it's right - I'd love us to be spending all that money, just, unfortunately, I don;t think Short wants to. Can;t sack the chairman either as he owns the club! No idea if there's anyone out there to take over so we have to stick with what we've got! No idea really on the transfer front but I'm guessing that wages is the big problem (from listening to what Sam said)
Hold up mate. They have spent close to 70 million pounds on transfers, just this season. They are in the relegation places. Nothing wise about that...
SAFC agree a fee with Lorient player comes over for medical and personal deal no agreement reached (greedy agent? Not willing to accept a relegation clause?) SAFC pulls out Player doesnt get any better offers, tells agent to suck it up and call SAFC - deal/negotiations back on I wouldnt want us to pay over the top for a player with no premier league experience. It has been a policy for us since Quinn that players have to accept relegation clauses in their contracts, however with our current situation I wouldnt be surprised if agents were trying to strong arm us. Personally, I would prefer to be relegated but have proper financial precautions in place than pay ott for player that might keep us up, get relegated anyway then do a Portsmouth etc
Has he come away and learnt that there isn't a club in the bottom half of league who will offer him a contract without a relegation clause? Silly lad.
But the winger they've signed is absolutely ****e and Shelve is an area they're well stocked in. Mags need defenders or they're going down with us.
I don't believe this relegation 'clause' is how it broke down. By clause, let's be clear, it's wage cut. He's on £10k at best at Lorient, so £20k a week max would be on offer from a BPL team taking a chance on him. So you scrap the entire transfer, risk losing £130m of TV rights, for what? Half a million quid per year in salaries? It's bollocks, that's not the reason. They said Sunderland changed something that was 'pre agreed' so it can't have been a wage cut, unless he'd already had it in writing and agreed to it. Then it would have been him reneging on the deal and not Sunderland changing a pre agreement.
Maybe. But as the Barca of the north are not after him' he'll have to make do and hope to catch tufftys eye.
