Even though I wouldn't class myself as a real Bowie fan (as previously stated), the rendition of 'is there life on Mars' playing on the way home brought tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat. Mrs R&W is distraught - she IS a 'real' fan who followed Bowie religiously.
A truly sad day for British culture and creativity. The Boss has gone and we are left with the mosh. Speaking as a musician, for me he was without equal. It genuinely feels like i have lost family
I can't copy and paste this in its glory, but this shows the many changes in the man, if a nice mod can make this easier for you all to see, that would be much appreciated http://giphy.com/gifs/illustration-david-bowie-time-lapse-yoJC2wQqhXpm97vdeg
my mate is very upset they were friends and did a lot together back in the 60's 70's 80's not just mates but musically as well very sad very sad the net is drawing in on all us old un's... wonder what my ticket number is?
Saw this and expected a poor taste site, but I was very wrong when I read it http://newsthump.com/2016/01/11/dav...&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=socialnetwork
The man was my idol. and the world is a poorer place Weirdly, these pictures were taken on Friday by Iman. A picture of health, but I have seen this in people who are poised at the gates, as it were. Last time I saw my dad he looked fabulous Best wishes to the City Not606 board. Don't worry, it will all be ok...
It's looking like all of the release of Black Star was planned like he knew he was going this weekend. As other people are saying about it a true showman right to the end and he went on his terms.
See, we can differ in opinion, and I don't mean to offend, but when describing Bowie yesterday, I always thought how he wasn't actually that incredible a musician. He himself admitted he's not an amazing musician, but that's not what matters. There are so many incredible musicians that can play the most ridiculous things on piano and guitar but it just sounds like noise. Soul is what makes an artist, and Bowie is probably the most creative and inventive of all time in that respect. It's that which made him imo, not his musical talent.
I wasn't actually talking about his musicianship Rob, although that was of the highest standard. His talent as a songwriter was a phenomenon rarely seen in the past 50 years, and coupled with his showmanship, and the pandora's box of ideas that flowed continually from him, and his energy, and magnetism that has influenced probably more bands worldwide than anyone else except arguably The Beatles: this is what marks him out as very special. That and his courage, something that is evident again with his dealings over the past few weeks. He knew he was going to die, probably to the day, and yet he faced it without a song and dance. All this with a major album release, and take another look at the expression on the above pictures. That is the look of someone facing death as another great adventure I don't know about you, but if I were staring that in the face I would probably have a quite different demeanour to his. And that for me sums him up quite well.
It's incredible just how fit, and well he looks in those pictures..... He always was a skinny guy so it's not as though Cancer has wasted his body like you see on some people just before they pass. i.e Lemmy.
Those pictures have been confirmed as not being taken on Friday, despite the reports. Hard to disagree with the rest of your post though Rick.
