Eder is probably the better currently but Haller is younger. It really is hard to call, let's get both!
Not really looked at Eder before, but 11 goals and 3 assists in 17 Serie A games is impressive. It's not an easy league to score in. €15m up front is quite the gamble though. Oscar Hiljemark of Palermo is also being linked apparently, with Southampton and Everton meant to be interested too. 23 year old Swedish central midfielder.
I get the impression he's more box-to-box, deep lying playmaker type. He'd probably rival O'Neil and Dorrans in our current setup.
Hiljemark wears number 10 for Palermo, so certainly more of an attacking midfielder either as a deep playmaker or further upfield possibly, but I'm not that sure. His Wiki page inbcludes this: "He also won the prestigious Månadens Tipselitspelare prize with the jury's citation: "Oscar Hiljemark has been endowed with a massive winning attitude that he has used to the competitive environment for the optimum development. He is a talented player who works hard and takes a mature responsibility from his midfield position." Players who also won the prize are Fredrik Ljungberg, Johan Elmander, Olof Mellberg and Kim Källström." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oscar_Hiljemark
Does anyone know what the sanctions are for daylight robbery? I'm wondering if we'll face charges for the Grabban fee....
Only just seen it on the BBC website Bournemouth have re-signed striker Lewis Grabban from Norwich City for a fee of about £7m. Insane Can't say that I am at all unhappy either.
Concerning the Eder story, SportsWitness are running a story that a respected agent was interviewed about potential transfers generally. He mentioned that City had made a substantial offer to Sampdoria, but they want €15m up front, which seems to be the position at this time. I assume we will keep negotiating concerning this.
A comment from our erstwhile manager on today's EDP website - “We have got money, we are prepared to spend money and we are looking to strengthen the squad,” he said. “In terms of what we are willing to pay we won’t break our structure. I am relatively happy just now and hope to be even happier as the window develops. We have not had any stumbling blocks so far. The negotiations we have been involved in have gone relatively well and nothing is at the point where we have had to cut things off or go in a different direction. Everything we have done is positive. We’ve started reasonably well and we have a little bit of work to do between now and the end of the window.” He's not joking when he says 'we have a little bit of work to do between now and the end of the window'!!!. Getting rid of Grabban is as good as a new signing in my book and I really don't care who he went to, just as long as he goes.
Sounds as if Hooper is likely to become a permanent Owl? http://www.norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=430047
Offloading Hooper would be well worthwhile, though might explain why we are fighting over Lafferty. Also anyone mentioned the Florentin Pogba rumour? Big CB plays for St Etienne and older brother of the maverick Paul. Looks in about our price range but I really don't know anything about him. Given he's left-footed if there's any truth I'd say he would be fighting with Bassong for a place.
Amy Lewis @AmyLewisSport Breaking: Swansea have agreed to sell Jonjo Shelvey for a fee in the region of £12m - sources. Medical in Newcastle later. The world has gone totally mad! £12m for Shelvey?!
"The defender has been heavily criticised in the French media after his performance in the last game. In Monday's edition of L'Equipe they rated Pogba as the 'flop' of the match for Saint Etienne against Nantes, whilst France Football also labeled him the 'loser' of the match. Pogba was blamed for both the goals Nantes scored, and the media feel he let his teammates down." From here. He'll probably be arriving at Colney later this week with such stellar reviews. Apparently he wants champions league football, which might be fantasy based on that. More likely to move in the summer due to injuries for Etienne too.
I feel Lafferty has something to offer as an impact sub, but I'm sure he'd rather be somewhere where he is playing more regularly.
