Morning all...it's not actually raining here for a change, though it hammered down during the night. Playing a bit of Bowie this morning and remembering good times live at Wembley. RIP BB...
Very sad news this morning about David Bowie. An amazing artist when you think about the number of times he switched and moved to different styles of music and still produced top quality music. But what would be your favourite era? Ziggy? Young Americans? Low (Berlin era with Eno)?, disco with Nil Rodgers (Let's Dance) - such a huge variation in styles. Wet morning in Bandit Country...
Early Bowie up to abour Young Americans was my favourite era. Man who fell to earth was great. Also Labyrinth. I must have watched that dozens of times with my children
Absolutely foul day here, with heavy showers of rain and hail, and the wind keeps gusting at gale force speeds. Not a great Bowie fan really, but that does not mean I do not recognize the huge talent and influence on the music scene he had. For a place as small as the UK it is amazing just how many leaders of world music have come from there.
I never liked Eurovision even when it was a level playing field, but now with the Eastern Block strategic voting it's a definite no-no!
Anyone see the news about Sean Penn interviewing "El Chapo?" That, is a very strange piece of news! For those who give a monkey´s - http://www.rollingstone.com/culture/features/el-chapo-speaks-20160109 Surely Penn is doing a)something all journalists would have loved to do and b)considering Guzman was world´s most wanted, something totally criminal!
It would be interesting what would happen if a couple of the Big Five withdrew their TV money. "Since 2000, France, Germany, Spain and United Kingdom have automatically qualified for the final, as they are the four biggest financial contributors to the European Broadcasting Union. These countries became known as the "Big Four". In 2010, it was announced that Italy would compete after a fourteen-year absence and would also automatically qualify for the final, joining the other four to become the "Big Five". In 2010 Germany became the first and, as of 2015, the only "Big Five" country to win the contest since the rule was made."
I do not understand how an actress, Kate del Castillo, seems to have been involved in arranging the meeting. From what I read she has been playing someone involved in drug trafficking, so does this mean she is in favour of it?
Morning all from a dry but chilly West West London...lot's of tickets to sort out this week. Already booked the train and a hotel room for the Man U game - luckily we will not have to leave early to miss the traffic.
