Just heard on the news - 18 month battle with cancer. A musical icon, who will be missed by many.

Time to join the great gig in the sky

Sad news, a great writer, artist and performer. Most people I know have some of his music and a lot of the artists I listen to have been influenced in some way by his work.

Surprised and sad to hear this news this morning. Ironic in I have been practicing Ziggy Stardust in recent weeks and was only discussing his stuff with a Sunderland mod a few days ago, music legend.

    RIP

First single I bought was written by him, first album was by him. Hugely influential directly on giants like Lou Reed and Iggy Pop, and indirectly on everyone else. And he never stayed still, looked back or limited himself to one area of art. Certain irony that we will hear Space Oddity endlessly now, when I doubt Bowie had listened to it, or even thought about it, for decades.

    RIP

Had posted some of his videos last Friday celebrating his 69th birthday, including a link to his latest video which may well have been his message of what was to come. A very bleak day for the world of music. RIP...

Genius, iconic....there are very few people who transcended music, films, art, fashion.
Saw the exhibition of his life at the Vand A 3 years ago...shocked at how muchhe influenced the world I grew up in

The word influential genius is not wasted on him

    R.I.P David Bowie

Big Bowie fan, very sad news.

"Though I'm fast one hundred thousand miles
    I'm feeling very still
And I think my spaceship knows which way to go
Tell my wife I love her very much (she knows!)
    Ground Control to Major Tom
Your circuit's dead, there's something wrong
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
    Can you hear...."

    RIP DB

Been a part of my life ever since I got into music. Some classic stuff in his catalogue.

If you're sad today, just remember the world is over 4 billion years old and you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie

That will be some reunion gig.

    Shocked about this one.
    Never knew he was sick.
I saw his new album advertised a few days ago and thought he looked old and a bit thin in the face. Even asked my Mrs after how old he was. So fair play to him for making that last video and releasing it on his Birthday knowing he did not have long to live. A bit chilling/spooky but that was Bowie.
Never really got all of his music over the years but liked a few of his songs and was 1000 times better than the manufactured crap they turn out now.
Only thing i will say against him was little drummer boy with Bing Crosby WTF!
    RIP
