Jonjo Shelvey became involved in a post-match confrontation with a furious Swanseafan after the Welsh club's shock FA Cup defeat to Oxford. The England midfielder went to applaud the visiting fans at the end of the game but then reacted to abuse from one supporter. The former Liverpool star then appeared to gesticulate to meet the gentleman in the car park to continue the frank exchange of views. The angry flashpoint at the Kassam Stadium could increase the chances of his departure with Crystal Palace interested in his £10m signature. Sooner the nugget is gone the better

This game was always going to be a difficult one for The Swans',a team with little,or nothing, going right for them.
Playing away to a very much inform lower league team, who, being the theoretical underdog.would probably play out of their skins, with the added bonus of a large partisan crowd spurring them on.
We've been there before, and on occasions, been that underdog. It can be hairy place to be.
The scene was set for a classic 3rd Round encounter, and so it turned out.

Now,I only watched the first half, and The Swans' were quite appalling. It seems that the second half wasn't much better.

Oxford were terrific,Swansea were dreadful. So,well done them, and good luck in future rounds.

They won fair and square, never resorting to Havant and Waterlooville tactics, and often played The Swans' off the park.

It seems that only Michael Laudrup knew how to win cup ties. I still miss him. Even more than Dragon does. <laugh>

Well it was a great watch for the neutral and we've been in Oxford's shoes, so just remember how amazing they'll be feeling <ok>

Sportsmanship might be all but dead on the field these days but It's good we can still exhibit it ourselves <cheers>

p.s. not sure I'll be able to watch that diabolical display from us again on MOTD though :emoticon-0106-cryin

Disagree with you on Cork, he was holding onto the ball way too long, when he had options and was constantly dispossessed by the harrying Oxford players.

Surely he was holding onto the ball too long because nobody was moving for him to pass it too?

"Jonjo Shelvey offering out Swans fans, what a top class tosser." - Twitter

"Shelvey's topped off shocking performance by arguing with fans. He can leave this club whenever he likes. Fed up waiting for him to grow up!" - Twitter

"Shelvey arguing with the fans. Embarrassing performance. No idea why the players got clapped off" - Twitter

"Hope he's played his last game for Swans....." - Twitter

Shelvey went to clap #Swans fans. Hard to know what was being said but body language suggested exchange with someone not that friendly - Twitter / Gareth Vincent

"Shelvey performance very sub standard. Would someone buy him based on that performance today? Unlikely. - Twitter

Shelvey was subjected to a torrent of fouled mouth abuse when he was acknowledging the fans support. Im not defending his performances lately but this sort of provocation is totally unacceptable. I for one do not blame him for reacting on this occasion whether or not he should be more professional or not. My neighbour who's just arrived back from the game witnessed the incident

Seems like some of our fans followed suit with Villa's yesterday. Although, their players seemingly managed to control themselves...

So did I and many others , he had the option to turn back and go to the dressing room but he chose to carry on towards us .I'm not for a minute condoning the actions of quite a few vociferous fans but the situation could have been better handled by a player who's been around long enough to be able to handle such incidents .Things like this didn't help his cause

Make all the excuses you like. Shelvey was not at his best but was our best player and the only one giving it a go. We are down the pan under curt as im sure he just stick names in a hat to pick his team and as for tactics then we would be better off if the tea lady did them and picked the team........Another game lost to sub standard management and the sooner we are put out of our misery the sooner we can plan for life in the lower leagues......Excuses don't cut it reality does......

Just summed up for me his whole attitude and recent performances .If he thinks that's an acceptable standard to play for his club then he's got no chance of playing for England this summer. As an international PL player he had a chance today to shine but no imo the sooner we get some decent money for him and he's gone the better Curtis has publically supported and subtly bollocked him in equal measure but it seems no one can manage him , Rodgers couldn't wait to get rid of him , perhaps at the time he thought he was doing us a favour but we could end up with a player who's value gets lower with every inept performance he produces .We're not in a position to keep ex million pound player on the bench , if he's not good enough or doesn't want to play for us then get shot as soon as.

Sad to say our best player today wasn't Shelvey by any stretch of your overworked imagination . try watching the game again although I suspect you didn't in the first place

Wake up and smell the coffee that's what i say.....There is no IF about it, We are going down if jinx don't get his head out of his arse and get us a proper manager double quick.......Curtis has tried every combination possible now and we look incapable of winning a game......If you cant see this then your in denial big time....
