It's weird reading all this, I listened to a Radio Sussex & they said we were outstanding, sort of sounded like Swanny & Burnsy when they slate us for dull passing back/sideways. They were really down on Brighton! I wonder if it's a case of they are too familiar with the players & the way they play, same as us with our lot?
Their forums had people wanting to lose the game so they can concentrate on the league, the feeling generally was the game was meaningless. Quite similar to the Leicester game really, except Brighton were even worse and even less interested. It's a shame cup games are like this now but that's how it is.
I thought we played well and should take the credit, rather than worrying too much about Brighton's selection etc. Been quite refreshing this season to see our supposed 'weaker' side playing well and putting a shift in. Main worry for me is just how we would cope without Hernandez to stick the ball in the net because none of our other forwards look clinical or capable of poaching a goal at all.
An enjoyable watch and only marred by the poor quality finishing. We cannot even blame Akpom this time. Our squad / fringe players showed what they can do and just carried on there capital one cup performances. Certainly we have more than enough strength in depth in most areas. Just the striker area / rate needs improving though.
Strength in depth is bollocks, we have a lot of players that "should" be able to step in & do the job. However we've seen that some can't just "step" in & take over, resulting in defeats & a sudden injury crisis in defence when Robbo missed 1 game, Dawson seems to be desperately needed against some "****" teams & not against some "better" teams. Hudds is a mystery, obviously has moments of brilliance & moments of laziness, a real enigma. Some players don't get a chance whilst others ran into the ground. Up front, as you say, we're lacking in numbers who can do the job, can any kid come through/get the chance? Diomande, another question mark, I think he can do it, whether injuries take him is a big thing. Akpom, can he get a run with another striker & form a partnership? Any loans coming in, in January? Will they be able to cut it? Find out in the next exciting episode of Hull City AFC!
I'm finished with daft arguments from now on, anybody wants to have a go then they are welcome. Tickler has the right idea, away with the fairies and be damned
