That is great in theory but who exactly do you have in mind? Matty Tubbs is a proven goalscorer and who knows what he could produce if given a chance in a higher league.
Your right Dave, from where I was sat, Long was manhandled all game and didn't get one decision even though it was plan to see to everyone ,especially early in the first half when he was fouled he would have been through one on one with the keeper..........but foul not given. And how didn't the Palace player didnt get booked for diving in on Davis resulting in him getting injured and going off half time. I know it's ifs and buts .....but if the ref had officiated properly it would have been a totally different game.
He might be right Os. Of course. He might be wrong. The point is, if you want to engage in any sort of sensible discourse, you don't barge on basically saying "I am right and if you don't agree with me you're an idiot/know nothing" etc. It's just utterly tiresome. Especially when you're talking to someone who was at the game when you're only hearing it on the radio.
Well I got soaked and almost thrown off the itchen bridge by the wind. But the last 5 minutes of the game was really exciting. First 10 wasn't bad either.
I agree that it looked extremely negative on paper. But the first 25m we were all over them. We didn't play defensively. Long and mane were a menace (albeit no end product) and it was enjoyable to watch. Their goal killed the game off a bit. Their goals were due to individual errors and poor defending, not just the set up. I guess you could argue we wouldn't have been so deep had we not been playing 532? Yes we did abandon the formation as we were 1-0 down at half time. 4 at the back = 2-1 loss at full time. Go figure.
Os, as I said in my post, I didn't like that formation either, but his attitude sucks. I'm beginning to think he actually can't help that for some reason. It's not the right or wrong of the argument that pisses people off, it's the complete put down on anything that is not in agreement with him. It is perfectly fine to say it was ok for Koeman to play 5-3-2 today, whether it is right or not. I wouldn't have today and wanted us to be a little more attack minded (so I agree with TinTin here) but I can at least see/understand/consider why the other formation would be played. I am not going to lambast people for thinking it was ok, just because I wouldn't have done it.
I support the Saints from a distance but I am not going to get frustrated with this. My nerves were fraught when chasing promotion. This is not worth losing any sleep about, it is a bit sad particularly for fans who are so passionate. At least Bournemouth won to cheer us all up and Eastleigh and Pompey are still in the cup. Come on Hampshire (Solent area) teams.
What Saints could do with is a bit of time away from Staplewood, a few days in the sun to refresh themselves and then a purchase in the transfer window that will give everyone a lift. Where's Big Lawrie as he was a genius for pulling the proverbial "rabbit out of the hat!"
Just thought who I would like in the dressing-room. Didier Drogba would give everyone a massive lift and help Saints more than survive. Can Chelsea let us have him?
Here's my honest opinion (and I may be wrong of course) - You can know absolutely everything there is to know about tactics, formations, statistics on player abilities, ceilings etc but at the end of the day, that's all Top Trump card/Football Manager '16 stuff at my/our kind of level of understanding, and our lack of access to information day-to-day about what happens on training grounds etc. For me this is a problem with personnel (we don't have a good enough striker, particularly with Pelle out), confidence and the man-management of such (and yes, that too is RK's responsibility). We're not losing because we play 5-3-2 instead of 4-3-3, or 5-2-1-1-1 instead of 4-4-2, we're losing games because we completely lack confidence and individual players aren't responding correctly right now through making terrible errors and messing up opportunities in front of goal. It's a confidence/personality thing, if that makes sense, rather than not creating chances etc. It's management in the personal sense more than tactical, and that incorporates everything from bolstering confidence through to a co-ordinated message throughout the club from the board. Over to you Ron (and Kat).
Actually, as someone said already, we actually played 3, 5, 1, 1. Never mind - I know how you feel and what you think. I'll differ from you and you'll continue to insult. That's fine - that's who you are. Unlike you, however, I respect that you have views - I just don't agree with them. I won't comment on your views any longer - but I do think you'd be better off supporting someone like Celtic who can win the league without trying.
Couldn't agree more, Badger. I don't think Jose is leading by example at the moment. He's one of our weakest links and Virgil was giving him a hard time. If we had another center back, I'd rest him and make Virgil captain. He seems to be someone who'll kick a few players up the arse and get them going .....
Agree mate, not frustrated or losing any sleep, it was just another one of those weeks and teams don't win all the time however good a reputation they have, hence my sarcastic reference to Chelsea etc. You have to go through bad times to appreciate the good times and its periods like this the club needs the support more than ever. Whether in Spain's, England or anywhere else in the world, us saints need to stick together.
I agree. Ron has a big part to play in that, what has gone wrong and has to work out how to correct it. I don't like the sound of the things in the Guan message, if indeed they turn out to be true.
