Both Swanny and Burnsy eluded to Aluko as being an enigma, but a disappointing one, Brucie even mentioned it in his interview with Bruce but was given short thrift. As for me, wherever, whenever we got a chance to get rid of him I`d drive him there personally.

Aluko had a good game all things considered. Should have scored but he picked the ball up in decent areas, got at them and made things happen. He's not looked at it for some time now, but to say he's dog **** is a bit silly. He was our best player the season we got promoted before his injury, and up there with the best in the league.

I've just watched a video on Facebook (filmed from behind the goal), and it goes in literally 9 inches from where the keeper's right foot had been before he moved. It was very central.

I hit my boiling point when he didn't square it for Luer to tap in but he did work hard. I think he's lost some of his quality and you wouldn't fancy him in front of goal these days Aluko at all

I'm not sure he's an enigma, he just doesn't score much. I said before the season that just because he helped us get up before doesn't mean he will again, years pass and things change. It was unlikely he'd just be able to flick some magic switch and be really effective again.

But as Bruce said his wage demands are so high only a top tier team, or those at the top end of our division who he said he wouldn't sell to, would take him. I'm not sure he's in demand anyway. So we are probably stuck with him until the end of the season.

At the risk of entering a needless argument, I`m sick of hearing how good he was three years ago, he hasn`t performed since, hence the dog **** comment

So what shape did we play? Where did Taylor play, how was he? Huddlestone was Captain, did he look like one? Was Diomande injured or just pulled? Did we play more centrally?

    Tigers shoot down Seagulls

Wow! what a game this was. The statistics do not tell the story. It could (and should) have been five or six. City rang the changes with starts for Huddlestone, Taylor, Jakupovic, Hayden and Diomande, but alas there was no Rosenior in the Brighton side. How we would have loved to cheer him back!
Snodgrass nearly scored with a wicked free kick after just five minutes, and we were off. Davies blasted over after eleven minutes, and a Hayden daisy cutter went inches wide. Another chance was missed on thirty minutes as Diomande squandered a great chance , but his header was mistimed. Just as we thought it was going to be another one of those days, Maguire was brought down in the box, and Snodgrass hammered home the penalty. City were totally dominant in the first half, and Jakupovic didn’t have a save to make. Brighton were occasionally menacing on the break, but City ended the half as they had begun, very much on the front foot.

The second half brought chance after chance, the hard working Aluko coming closest when one on one with the keeper, who saved well. City swept forward in wave after wave of attack, but simply could not put the ball in the net. Instead of detailing the succession of missed chances, I’d like to concentrate on the positives. Huddlestone was imperious; one glorious shot fizzing inches wide.Robertson was a constant threat on the left, creating so many opportunities. Oluko worked as hard as I have seen anyone play this season.
Man of the Match Snodgrass was brilliant, harassing the defence all afternoon, ably supported by Hayden and Diomande.

Despite not having a single shot on target, Brighton nearly stole an equalizer in the ninety third minute, as Croft hit the bar. Make no mistake, this was a terrific performance from City, but where are the goals going to come from? I suspect Hernandez might have got a hat trick, but hats off to this City team. They were great.

Now for Arsenal at home in the next round, then Wembley again! Hey, you never know. Anything is possible in the Cup!

He's always frustrated me aluko but in his defence we signed him as a winger! And if we are honest Elmo has been mostly awful this season. I for one wouldn't be against Aluko been given a start at right mid as when he has the ball and runs at a full back he terrorises them. And at least we wouldn't have to worry too much about his finishing!!

The direct running at the oppo is a strength of his, it looks like Bruce doesn't want to try him in that position though, Elmo seems to start nearly always regardless

Anyone who would rather play Aluko rather than Elmo at right midfield should not be allowed out On their own or be allowed to play with knives

As a match report, presumably aimed at those who didn't see it, can I suggest it would be good to include what shape(s) we adopted and who played what role?

Not a criticism, just a suggestion, as it isn't mentioned anywhere else and it would put your comments in context to the squad ; you've certainly offered a different view to some and all feedback is welcome. <ok>

Loved the way we tried to chuck it all away in the last minute.

It's been a while since we dominated in such a heavy manner

The KC needs a nandos or franky and bennys
24 touches with zero end product.

When Aluko has played on the left he always comes inside & does literally nothing, leading to a lot on here shouting for him to be up front, so today he's up front & everyone wants him on the wing.

4-4-2 with Taylor on the left, Hudds and Hayden rotating in the midfield with Aluko and Diamande paired up front. Maguire/Davies centre-backs with Robertson given license to go forward from left defence, Odubajo seemed a bit more restricted attacking wise. Snodders was on the right but he made some nice cutting runs infield at times. Hopes this helps a bit

Problem is with his direct running, he runs straight into opposing defenders or runs it out of touch, or his usual trick falls over and claims a foul. Four seasons ago pre injury he had an end product, where is his end product now ?

I wouldn't play him ever myself, don't really rate him think he's gone downhill despite what Bruce says. The other fella is entitled to his opinion though
