Newspapers are also saying he is having a good season so far but we all know thats nonsense. Dont get me wrong i think there is a good player in there, but unfortunately it would appear that Redmond, himself cannot see the same. He is so negative when he has the ball! As for the Grabban thing, i dont believe for a second that we actually turned £8mill down for him! Unless we are DESPERATELY struggling to get a replacement.
4 goals, 2 assists, 2 MOTM, and a 78.7% pass completion for a 21 year old with little Premiership experience. Plus he's a top scorer. I think he's doing fine.
Was linked with him in the summer and wasn't sure about him then. Now half a season older. He is a strong, experienced Striker who's 6'4 and can Finnish like a stud. So, if we can't bring ourselves to put a proper bid for Afobe or another young striker. I would take him, any money talked about?
Palace looking at a big bid for Islam Slimani. Who is a striker. That would move Dwight Gayle further down the pecking order.
Didnt mention a figure, just that us and Everton are in pole to get him. As for Redmond, i say the stats mask the truth about his form this season. He hasn't been great. He doesn't run at people as often as he should, his crossing is deadful most of the time and his pass completion is high because he passes back and sideways a lot. He doesn't track back because he has been told to stay high up the pitch in order to spark quick counter-attacks. However, when he gets the ball he is often one of the slowest players we have! By the time he does anything, the opposition are all back in position. On his day he can be class hence the 2 MOTM's. But we see it all too infrequently and he was dreadful against Southampton. I accept that he is only 21 and that he has a lot to learn still... but he needs to do it pretty quickly, or he will find himself at 25 and still at the same level. I hope he does do that with us but £15m is probably a decent price for his current ability.
Is Dwight Gayle actually any good? It seems he struggles to get a look in most of the time. I know Palace are a decent side but iv barely seen any of him.
He's not bad. Wouldn't be my first choice, but he would add to our squad. Pacey, Determined, Confident, and can get goals. Don't know if he would start every game.
That's my worry. He would cost us a bit and id rather sign someone who is pushing to start rather than just a squad player. We already have Jerome who is pacey and determined. Gayle would be nothing more than a Grabban upgrade. Id like to see someone come and challenge Mbokani (who i really like ) or even to play with him up top.
He'd add a different dimension - reminds me a bit of Bellars. I think he'd be behind Mbokani and Jerome in terms of getting starts though.
Cant see him starting but i wonder if Pinto will get some game time today? There was a pretty damning piece about him by a Croatian journalist in the EDP... seems he is defensively inept like Whittaker! I will reserve judgement but that doesnt sound good! :-/
Think people are a little harsh on Redmond, we always have to find someone to pick on or moan about. Sure Redmond's form has dipped a bit, but that's most likely because of the style we're playing now. He still makes crucial passes, like the one that lead to the first Villa goal.
What's even more annoying is people giving him stick on twitter, way to make someone feel not wanted and how is that helpful?
Re Redmond I can see both sides of the debate. I think that he had a pretty mixed season in the Championship and that because he had a fantastic finish to it a number of us thought that this was the point he would really kick on and become the top player we know he has the potential to be. This has not happened. This season we have seen a very mixed bag. A couple of MOTM performances but also some where he has been the worst player on the pitch and bluntly an irrelevance. I would imagine that in a stronger team he may improve but he may have already got as good as he is going to. He is young but he has played a lot of first team football in the top two tiers and his decision making is still poor and he still can't cross a ball. If you are 21 and a wide midfielder with aspirations of playing at the top level then I would imagine you would work and work to get better at crossing. Sadly I think he is a leg injury away from being a busted flush. If his pace goes as things stand he wouldn't make our team let alone that of a bigger club. He could mature into an awesome player but I just don't see him making any progress from where he was two years ago currently and so this makes me think that he may have peaked. I'd take the £15m.
Im not sure. He does do the odd class move now and then but its only a few people who are too harsh on him. I wouldnt say he is rubbish, for example, like some say. I do, however, feel that his bright sparks have been somewhat overshadowed by his poor crossing and slow build up this season. As i have said before, i recognise that he is young still, but my point is that he hasn't been as good as the stats suggest. He could potentially be awesome and that is the frustration with him.
Re Grabham. Take the money and buy someone better who gives a damn. I don't get why people are scared of Bournemouth getting him. I'd be delighted to see him spurn chance after chance playing for someone else. He is a decent Championship player when playing fora strong team in that division.
