Just felt that his positioning was completely off, and at 22, I thought he would be a bit more refined. But to be fair, this is the first time I;ve seen him play and it wasn't easy to play on this pitch.

Agree. They weren't that bad. But at 22, I expect more and I think they lack the basics.

 

He should have scored but it was actually a very good reaction save from the keeper.

As I say quite often, the keeper can only make top saves if we give him the opportunity to make the save.

How about I stop criticising Benteke when he stops playing poorly? I think that's fair.

 

He probably should have but I think that's a little harsh, defender is all over him.

I've mentioned this already.

The guy thrives off quick, quality crosses to beat the defender and put it in the back of the net.

What did we do?

Loads of 1-2's which slows down the pace of the game and takes him out of it.

Or alternatively, shoot instead of crossing.

In short we shouldn't have ****ing bought him because we don't have a style which would utilise him effectively.

I defend players who have talent and have shown their ability to suggest that poor performances are nothing more than just a blip. Coutinho and FIrmino have both been poor but I know they are capable of more because I have seen it.

Benteke has yet to do that.

 

He actually did play well.

But he's still sh*t and a waste of £150k a week on wages.
