From BBC website: "Chepstow officials are optimistic Saturday's Welsh Grand National will go ahead after being given the green light to move the feature event to an earlier time. The original meeting on 27 December was called off due to a waterlogged course. Although conditions remain extremely testing, clerk of the course Keith Ottesen is hopeful the meeting will take place. "At the moment things are looking very positive," he said. "But we obviously need to keep an eye on things and we'll keep everyone updated as best we can." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/wales/35243908
Ibis Du Rheu. Steps further up in trip, Nicholls appears to be firing again so pretty confident he will go close in a tough race.
If Cheppers goes ahead Emperor's Choice is a cracking Ew bet in the big one.Won this last year and will be primed for a big run for a trainer who excels in these types of a races.12/1 best price
25/1 e/w Firebird Flyer for me - very consistent in these heavy ground slogathons and ran a decent 3rd in the trial in December.
Definitely, and the heavy ground is a bonus for him, took a small piece of the 9's. Hopefull of a big run.
WOODFORD COUNTY 16/1 carrying featherweight in the slog for me. Paddy going eway first 5 so that will do for me.
Agree with Stick on Mountainous ground one of the few horses who want it bottomless!! Had 10/1 on him earlier last week so am happy! Any one know why UNOWHATIMEANHARRY is a NR? Really fancied him in the Lanzarote
I unfortunately have to work tomorrow so sticking on a Lucky 15 for interest. Handsupfordetroit Mountainous Ibis Du Rheu Coo Star Sivola
3.10 Kempton- SEEFOOD- 6/1 New recruit for the good doctor was a decent hurdler for Sandra Hughes and won't mind the ground- lost his way in the summer but a change of scenery can sometimes do the horses a world of good! Trainer does well with horses like this too and should be Bang there
Ibis Du Rheu for me in the lanzarote - wouldn't surprise me to see Nicholls have another super Saturday stable back to form and any horse has to have a chance
Hello chaps! Can't be having Mountanous in the Welsh tomorrow. Yes he has "his" conditions, but he has surely had them on more than one occasion since his win in this 3 years ago .....? I'll be sticking with the improver Cogry, not the regressive Mountanous. Cue a win for Emperors Choice then! At Kempers, surely PN has his hands on the trophy with Ibis Du Rheu Good luck all
The Welsh Nat doesnt appeal from a punting point of view.. but for a small interest only....Hobbs is well represented and Woodford County 14s and Return Spring 16s can both be in the shake up. From a more serious point of view Hombre Rojo1.20L 5/2 Chella Thriller 3.40L 4/1 Bearly Legal 1.35P 5/1 Blazing West 3.15P 9/2 Also i will be keeping a keen eye (excuse the pun) for any market move for Easyondeye currently 14s in the 1.00 at Punchestown Good luck
Nightmare conditions in the Welsh National today where the going is described as very heavy, as opposed to just heavy! I'll nominate Bob Ford at 14s for the lovely Rebecca to land the spoils. I recall him winning at Ffos Las over this trip on almost unraceable ground last year. He also has form at Chepstow so he'll carry my dosh. He'll either win or get pulled up. Also a little lucky 15 with the above plus Awaywiththegreys in the race before the National and The Clock Leary and Un Ace at Kempton. Good luck all.
I liked the look of TD's second string in the National, Tour Des Champs over 23 furlongs last time out. He loves the mud and distance. Maybe the time off he had can play into his hands.
Cogry for me, not the biggest horse so relatively low weight is important and the claim of young Ryan Hatch is invaluable. Hope he gets into a good rhythm because if he does, he will prove very difficult to beat. Le Reve is really interesting today as is Fayette County.
