I would like to challenge all you you guys who are posting what bascially I think is every excuse under the sun to have a go at Benteke to stop making ****e up and just be bold faced... just say "I don't like him, i don't have to like him" Then the rest of us can say "fine then just shut up whining about it" and we can all move on and have more fun. I now invite anyone who has any sort of open mind to look at the following: This is why we bought the guy: This is also why I've said he is a confidence playr. Yes this is the usual youtube can make anyone look good. But.... for example of the latest "oh carroll is better stuff cos he scored for west ham".... you won't find andy carroll doing some of this. Now I'm told all he does is this Not a bad thing to have in your locker i suppose but hang on... is that all he can do? , no technique this boy eh? only scores at the far stick of course though.... so this ones no good. This is benteke saving our arses in this current europa league v bordeaux... yI guess the rumour he only goes to the far post is wrong then... this is him knocking Leicester off the top spot... see how he's stuck at the far post in the pocket of the CB... again... This is a sample of cool finish, but he missed two 1 on 1s and that means he cannot finish. .............................................................. Now the thing is; hes not in the best of form is he? that's a fair statement. Whats not fair is something about "style" and how he can never play for us. Is he working hard enough? That's another fair question... he's never going to fit in with klopp cos klopp wants guys to run about madly all the time... thats not fair. He'll never justify his fee - another one thrown at him. Its funny how some get defended to the hilt on fee and some have it thrown in their faces. He didn't pay it or demand it, LFC paid it in the summer, was he worth it? nope it was a release clause fee, he's worth about 25mil max. (reality check too, thats the going rate) So my opinion and its just opinion is that he's just a plain good player who needs a confidence lift. He's under pressure and shows signs of feeling it. The talent is there. Its a question of finding if we can unlock it while he is a part of a larger squad and won't be on the pitch all the time. I have also been winding lads up for the sake of it as I find the wild statements made easy to poke holes in
If our service was actually good, and he was not being ignored by others wanting goal glory, he'd have more goals. Against Leicester and the game before, the amount of times he was in space and waiting for a pass, and not getting one, was ridiculous. He's the best forward we have bar styrofoam legs, so he's the best forward we have period as studge is not for me part of this squad, has not been for some time. He kept Villa up with his goals too
You say this is poor form. It isn't - this is how he normally plays. He doesn't run or work hard, and his play on the deck is poor. Lump the ball up to him and he's good. Do it 100 times a season and he'll score goals. he's a decent striker for a club that plays to his strengths. He's not good enough for top clubs because he is far too limited. His goal scoring record in the PL is inflated due to his impressive first season. Since then, he's been nothing but average, often going on runs of 10 games without scoring. He scored 2 in 19 at one point last year! Let's end this once and for all - he's not good enough for us. Let's sell him in the summer and be done.
Can you not say you just don't like him and stop making up excuses? "not good enough for us" etc etc "inflated record" 202/13 Aston villa 34 league games 19 league goals 5 league cup games 4 league cup goals = 39 games, 23 goals in season 2013–14 Aston villa. 26 league games 10 league goals, one goal in one game in league cup. Lets have the context then..... fine start to season then picked up a hip flexor injury. rushed back (perhaps) and didn't score for 12 games... I wont make more excuses for a guy in that regard. starts scoring again in january and then gets an achilles tendon injury in march.. two big injuries in that season. 2014–15 29 league games 13 league goals 5 fa cup games 2 cup goals (killing us) 34 games 15 goals.. average at best no? Returned form achilles tendon injury, promplty gets himself sent off in his first couple of games (v spurs) didn't get really going unitl march and end sup getting 11 goals in 9 games under tim the ego sherwood not this is the reality and WHY in july last i said I was concerned about his injury record. He had a couple of serious injuries in there. Despite this injury record he still got 42 goals in 89 games for villa who are right at the bottom of the league "play on the deck is poor" I take it you didn't look at the first video then.
The main issue is LFC fans thinking anyone is beneth them... we have had a long history of this with a lot of mediocre players playing for us. In 2010 at our lowest point we'd a lot worse than this. We are actually spoilt for choice. If klopp decides to bin him fine. until he does he is a decent player and we need all of those we can get.
42 goals in 89 games for a team that PLAY purely to his strengths and lump crosses and long balls to him, and built their attack around him is not great. Watch his performances for 90 mins at Villa and you'll see that this isn't a confidence issue - it's lack of talent and coaching because this how he has always played. What we're saying now is nothing new. Watch for villa, Anderlecht, Liverpool and the national team - unless you're lumping the ball up to him, he's of no use. He has players like Hazard, De Bruyne and Witsel in the NT and they rarely pas to him because they know he won't do anything. Play on the deck is poor - watch him throughout his career. I'm sure you could find Balotelli making runs. Doesn't mean that his movement is great? Benteke has made 1 or 2 runs in behind the defence but we want that all the time. And the guy is injury prone as Well. So in summary, he's: Not prolific Not Clinical Not Hard working Not Creative One dimensional Injury prone Not Intelligent Has poor movement Just an all round poor buy - one of the worst this club has made.
Indeed. We just need to watch and see and not just say he can't. I'm not one for can't.. what can he do what can klopp get out of him and if that end sup with him or anyone else gone fine.
ah come on jimmy think about what you said. 1 in 2 is no good... even at a club around top 4 its good. its what lukaku has done by in large, its what rooney has across his utd career or england career! you list is just alitany of excuses cos you don't like him... not reality... just say you don't like him and be done with it.
Im pretty sure that those strikers have better conversion rates, have better movement, score different types of goals, create for themselves and create for others. So yes - if you want to be happy with 1 in 2, then you better be bringing something else to the table.
And it's not excuses - he is all of those thing I listed and you can't respond back because all you do is bring up his goal record which isn't even that good! You clearly value his goals - I'm sorry but for a top club, players need to offer more. It's what separates decent players from quality ones.
Everton have turned themselves into a Lukaku-serving machine to the extent that they can't even defend any more because they are too busy worshipping him Half our team and fans want Benteke to be tortured to death Lukaku's goals and assists have earned Everton 10 points Benteke has earned Liverpool 9 points
do they now... other than the actual facts of their stats you mean..... I'd love to know what you are basing 1 in 2 as not being good on... is it messi and ronaldo or what? better than 1 in 2 is a very very very rare and elite thing. Its rarely sustained over more than a season. I mean lets just look at some of the greats of LFC: atletico 215 games so far. 82 goals.... I distinctly remember the manc wums tearing into our 23.5mil buy as he had a poor record. he never got more than 20 league goals at atletico. He scored more than 20 goals ONCE in his 4 years at lfc. Folwer next: over 9 years he got 120 goals in 236 games... twice in that he got over 20 league goals... just twice... in fairness to him he got bad injuries and tailed off. the thing is every single thing you wrote about bentke i heard about fowler. As he buried goals he was accused of contributing nothing outside the box, about being poor on the ball, poor touch etc... in his best season in 1996 he played 53 games and scored 36 goals... thats a one off, brilliant couple of years How about owen? 216 games 110 games. best year 46 games 28 goals, missed 10 league games with injuries, never ever got over 20 league goals for us. This is the reality of it... this is a decent strike record. He's not a donkey nor anything like a donkey. He needs to do a bit better but we need to do better with him too. We'd all love a messi scoring a brace a game and us top of the pile but they are not even gold dust they are so rare they end up in barcelona. which brings me finally to suarez 110 games 69 goals... brilliant... and controversial. In his first year it was said his ajax form was a fluke, he missed the target too much, he was too selfish, he was not fitting in...4 goals in first 6 months under dalglish.. 11 the next as he mired himself in issues.. then explodes 23 league goals and 31 league goals under rodgers... Was it dalglish's fault... maybe.. was it rodgers credit... not really... he was given time and he delivered. Benteke is not nor never will be Suarez. He's nowhere near.. but he's a good honest striker who can score goals and he's a guy who will work but I feel he needs to get his head up and believe.
